I went to war against a muslim power, deafted his army, laid siege, and suddenly I'm the owner of the province. Does this happens with counts/duches/kingdoms that own more than one province too?

When I went to war with him I discover he had a very powerfull overlord that is not intersted in white peace. When I declared war the popup only said how many men HE could muster, not the amount any overlord/allies could. Is there a way to get to know that before declaring war?

How do I know if my allies will join me in the war or not, exept seeing if they show up?

No, this only happens if you conquer lands of religious enemies (Muslims and Pagans) and of course if they conquer Christian lands.

Before declaring war on his vassal, chose the option to declare war on his overlord (but don't confirm it) it will tell you how many men this ruler has in total (including his vassals)

You don't know, but usually your allies won't come to your aid if you declare war on someone who is stronger then they are.

Allies will either join or not, no way to know. In CK without DV you will automatically get any heathen provinces you happen to capture, but to claim Christian lands you need to have a claim and than make negotiated peace where current holder of that land gives away its count title. In DV the same applies for heathens as well, but you don't need a claim to attack them.

After I took his vassals land the overlord wasn't to happy and send a small army to attack me wich I defeated rather easy and stopped pursuing when it was down to 126 men to save money. Is there a point of killing of a unit entirely if you don't see the reminder as a threat or will they reinfoce faster if I don't?

He also came with a large force of over 3000 men in the south in my new province. He left some 120-130 men there to lay siege and proceded to go to my counts province. I raised the army of my second province, (around 750 men) and broke the siege, recruited another 700 or so men from that province and together with the 1700 from my capital we marched to break the sige of my count.

I should have timed it a bit better becouse my 1700 men from my capital arrived way before the others and I was down to around 800 men when reinforcement arrived and turned the tide of the battle and I won it and broke the sige.

I decided to pursue him, to diminsh his army and maybee loot some of his provinces for higher score so he would accept a peacedeal. But when we arrived in the next province, he had full morale or something, wich was not something that could be said for my troops, that was on a good way to be annhiliated when the game chrashed.

Why did his army start with full morale and mine with about 20% when I won the last battle and we had roughly the same amount of troops?(I had slightly more). Despite winning the previuos battle I had no chance at all in this one.

Edit: While I'm on the subject of warfare. There is alot of options you can choose to research that will improve your troops, but what does it means. F.eks, if I research defensive or offensive they both give +1 shock and +1 moral to all units. Does it means it doesn't matter squat what I reserch from those two it only have different names or is one only effecitve while attacking and the other one while defending?

Some bonus I see is +1 shock, +1 morale, + 1 siege engine, + 15-20 defense and + 15 attack. Is there some kind of easily availeble formula that I can see to find out how usefull the different bounses is, becouse atm I have no ide how much more dmg my troops do if they get +1 shock or + 15 attack or how much less dmg they will take if they get 15-20 defense.

I know roads will improve traveling time for my armies and reduce attrtion. Will they have the same positive on enmies troops in my realm to or will they have a lower/non effect on them?

Gold + 4%- Does that just means that is my total income would be 100gold I would now get 104 or is it only gold from my demenses I coun't for. And are the bonuses from different brances, added together as 4+4= 8% or 1,04*1.04= 1,0816 or 8,16%?

military tech increases have very little effect on battles.the overriding factor is the martial score of the leaders so always try to ensure your armies leaders have high martial.

totally destroying enemy forces is pointless as they will begin recruiting again.AI armies recruit very, very fast so you could easily find yourself facing a full strength army again in no time.

I'm currently playing DV, and I have attacked Byzantium.

Couple of problems.
1. the War quickly dissolved onto a whack a mole contest because his armies refused to suffer casualties even when defeated (a 4000 stack would suffer 15-25 casualties which is ridiculous). Than after attrition reduced my armies a bit he started winning some battles and suddenly there would be casualties a plenty. Usually mine. What was going on?
2. He also seemed not to be suffering attrition.
4. How to improve the morale?

An offtopic one:
3. I attacked Byz in order to get ONE province. I got it by vassalising a Byzantine vassal. So I didn't own it. BUT even after conquering something like 75% of Emperors personal provinces, he STILL refused to White peace. Now couple of months later, he has restored his military and is pushing me back.
How do you get somebody like that to accept he is beaten?!?

Units do not suffer attrition in provinces they, or their liege, controls. An army with low morale will break after suffering only a few (or zero!) casualties. The AI, however, will tend to "yo-yo" - be defeated, retreat, attack again before morale is regained, be defeated again, ad naseaum until 1.) the army is destroyed or 2.) peace is declared.

2. He also seemed not to be suffering attrition.

See above.

4. How to improve the morale?

You have to rest in a friendly province. If the unit has suffered high casualties, the only thing you can do is disband it and allow it to regrow in its home province.

What is the warscore?

War score was 550ish. I wan0t able to pursue the enemy because Byz had all those vassals, so they had a shitton of regiments. Half the time I was chasing some vassal regiment rampaging trough my provinces.

I don't know then, except to say that AI leaders can be incredibly stubborn. Since he has plenty of troops and vassals, I'm guessing he calculates that he can hold out better than you can.

If you've got a Positive Treasury balance, try offering your entire Treasury to him in the Peace Process, sometimes that works in addition to you having a Positive War Score (to the AI, it doesn't matter if your Treasury is 4 Gold or 400 Gold, as long as you're offering your entire Treasury). But it's also a good idea if you have alot of Gold, to use up most of it by building stuff (or giving it to a vassal who happens to be a maiden Great-Aunt of your Ruler and who might dies soon and you are her main Heir, then you'll get it back again - maybe).

As Ivan stated, the AI is looking at his total army that is mobilized versus your total army that is mobilized. If you've got regiments you haven't raised yet (for what-ever reason - usually it's your Demesne troops you never raise and you use vassals troops - then raise all of the troops you can at the start of the month, then offer Peace - hopefully he'll change his mind). If he's at war with several other Realms at the same time, he's also more likely to accept (or offer) peace.

Otherwise, it wasn't a great idea in the first place to attack a strong Byzantine if you weren't as strong or stronger than him.

Push comes to shove, it depends if Byzantine has claims on YOUR personal Titles. If he doesn't then let him siege all of your demesne provinces - they'll be looted and he'll take any Title he does have claims on, but at lease you'll still be alive after it's all over (and who knows, you might still have that new vassal of that province you were after - as long as HE doesn't go to war with Byzantine).

Threasury was in minus at the time (-1400 I think), so Grigor defense wouldn't have worked.
I would have been able to beat him if AI wasn't cheating (he can't get into debt), and battles were realistic.
In the end I got pissed, and acceptalled that province I wanted.
Later I got attacked by Cumans who have something like 100 000 troops, and shuffling conquered Cuman-vassal provinces to my vassals, did the trick, and they accepted the white peace.

As the King of the Rus, I got into a few wars with the Cumans. I realized I couldn't realistically take and hold his provinces while fending him off elsewhere, so I had the strategy of getting a small positive WS and asking for a WP. It's often all you can do when fighting a sizable kingdom (or Empire.)
