After I got the first game from steam on sale, the game isn't that bad. But I wasn't sure if Warlock 2 will be any better and cost much more. So I went ahead and bought it and have to say it is alittle better. I wouldn't pay 30 for it though, more like 19.99. Anyway the diplomacy kinda suck, esp when you are at war and want to remove them, they will keep spamming peace offers and too bad it doesn't have ignore option.

Broken worlds or warp to another worlds, that something I didn't like. It should been world itself and underworld. They could have done better if they took there time and be more creative.

If you want something like Master of Magics that was made from 90's, get World of Magic, it is still in Beta though. This game is like Civilization 5, with no tactical options.

This game is a LOT more about tactical combat and leveling units. Its not a CIV "clone" at all. Its a disservice to both games to compare them. They are both good games in their own way.

While I am hard on the Devs, I find that Warlock 2 is a great game now. While it's not a civilization building game, there is the minimum to feel you are building cities and an empire. I love the custom ability when making heroes, and love the unique ranges of spells we can have and use.

When the game was released it was mediocre, but now I find the game a lot of fun, even really good now. While I never got Warlock, I do feel the $50 I paid for was a little steep, but I got to say I got my moneys worth finally and enjoyed the game a lot.

It a good game to play around with for a day or two. Depending on how long you want to play it and how big the whole setups is. Some games like Worlds of Magic will last a lot longer than that. Cant wait til they finish it Q1 2015.

As it is developed by Wastelands Interactive given their track record of not really finishing their games before moving on to the next one I wouldn't get your hopes up for Worlds of Magic.

This.

I played the game when is was out: it was very repetitive and annoying because of the lairs spam and you always had to fight the same enemies, especially in end game.
Now there is more variety, and I dare to say the AI is different (and more specialized than) from a Civilization one. In Warlock, the AI tries to demand things form you, and even if you concede, it can declare war against you, when it has more units than you, and they are already disposed to attack. The Ai used properly the spells. And it's everything we can ask from it. If you think it sucks because they spam diplomacy offers when you just want to destroy it, then you should think harder about what "intelligence" means in "Artificial Intelligence"... and it doesn't mean "do every the player wants and accept its destruction with joy, amen".

The game otherwise is very pleasant and varied, with cool environments and really different units (they aren't just clones with different colours and names, and just one or two stat that change), the combat is good and can be tactical and challenging against serious opponents, while it is quick and satisfying against weak units (in many games it takes some time to take care of the weak units, like the barbarians in Civilization. In Warlock, just use your big exploring unit to destroy them once for all.)
The city limit and the unit costs are very well balanced.
Really it's a pleasant game.

World of Magic is just an other game like Eador: it tries too hard to be like the good ol' games, but it will be terrible, unfinished, and ugly. Also, they are very happy to say "hey look, we use D20 system!" but the only good thing about the D20 system is that it's easy-to-use (that's why there is a "D" in "D20") in a role play game and can cover a good range of actions. It's not intended to work well with a strategy game, which should use its own rules...

The game does need to give better priority when casting spells however. I can't help but notice them casting shadow bolts on monsters halfway across the map when they have enemies knocking at their gates.

That's definitely true, I can't count how many times I've seen them throwing spells at monsters in other worlds, while being invaded elsewhere.
