What do you guys plan to do when you first run the USSR or US or another country?
US:
I plan to win the Korean War, Vietnam War, unite Germany (If Possible), economically cripple the USSR, develop a expanding economy, prevent the Cuban Missile Crisis, get involved in the 7 Days War, convert as many countries as possible.
USSR:
Successfully invade Afghanistan, help North Korea and China invade South Korea, convert Japan, help the Vietnam War, alliance with all Middle Eastern countries for resources, invade Africa for resources, over power the West European Side Military, cause nuclear war.
Poland:
Convert to Democracy, create strong ties with Europe and America, build a strong economy, and defend country until Cold War ends, become a Super Power, invade smaller surrounding countries if a war breaks out.

Questions to help my game experience:
US:
How would military tactics differ between guerrilla warfare and entrenchment. Can I create a treaty to unite West and East Germany without a war, can I form revolutions in countries such as Cuba, how can I cripple another countries economy.
USSR:
Can I launch nuclear warheads from satellites or missile silos instead of military units. Can I create bunkers and fallout shelters to protect my citizens and military if a nuclear war breaks out.
Poland:
How can I convert my own country to democracy without the USSR invading me, if the US won't accept me yet. Can I be a influence in the Cold War itself as I become a Super Power.

US:
I'll win Korea, send troops into Vietnam to help the French, send troops into Algeria to help the French, keep Indonesia in check. I'll make sure that the colonial powers are retained. I'll also send troops and aid to Rhodesia (if it becomes independent) and make sure that Ian Smith remains in charge! I'll also be sure to keep the Shah inpower, and help Israel retain its borders and even expand. Developing South America is also an option. Keeping the Chinese Republicans (Kuomintang) in power is also a priority, is this may avert the Korean War, Vietnam War and speed up the destruction of the Communist warlords.... However, the latter is probably a tad bit optimistic, as by 1949 the KMT really only had Chungking and the Guangxi area..... STILL, WE CAN TRY!!
USSR:
dunno yet...
France:
Retain the empire! Build nukes, invade any break aways, try and put man on the moon first (if an option) ensure de Gaulle is in power / the right wing stays in control. Have troops stationed in Germany, try and have troops in Israel to assist in the 6 day war, and perhaps re-conquer Syria and Lebanon....
South Africa:
Retain Angola, make sure Rhodesia stays British, or at least white dominated, ensure the apartheid regime lasts
Australia:
Keep Indonesia in check! Invade if possible....

Q:
Is it possible to change ideology? example, Democracy>Communism, or Democracy>Dictatorship/Fascism? vice versa.

North Korea

-Sucessfully unite Korea
-Turn Myself into a communist power
-Remain all evil and juche, no chinaesque reforms
-Develop Nuclear Weapons
-have this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zYsUqAYg6c) many people flip out when I Die

The USSR doesnt want a powerful ally?

Soviet/Russian paranoia is a truly unique thing. No, there's no way they allow a satellite to become too powerful. Besides, Soviet interest in Poland had more to do with pushing the Germans and Nato further west than with anything else, Poland doesn't need to be powerful to keep enemy armies out of the Motherland, it needs to be large.

The USSR doesnt want a powerful ally?

Not too powerful, no. Stalin put the kibosh on Albania and Bulgaria joining Yugoslavia for that very reason. From their POV, a powerful neighbour to the west had led to literally untold misery for hundreds of years. Strategically, a series of fairly weak and fairly compliant satellites made perfect sense. Undoubtedly there were elements of paranoia in their policy but there were also elements of common sense built on historical experience.

More ideas:
USA: unite north america.
N.korea: Unite korea and become a superpower.
India: take pakistan and rule the far east.

I think a lot of people want to be N. Korea. Thier evil is appealing.

And its worth noting that they couldnt control yugoslavia even without albania or Bulgaria

Exactly. Tito was too charismatic, and the Serbs had done too much of the work liberating themselves for Yugoslavia to become a satellite. With Albania and Bulgaria added, Yugoslavia would have had the potential to become a serious alternative ideological pole to Moscow.

Similar thing happened in N. Korea. Stalin thought he had a puppet and accidentaly installed a Charismatic and Competent leader.

Well to start off, the thread name: Wars started by Poland. I laughed a bit :)

Anyways

Sweden:
Well um...
-Try to maintain super neutrality, maybe even create an own bloc (A neutral superbloc without focus on communism or capitalism)
- Try to bring back Finland at least to an alliance (try to break them free from the USSR).
- Create the greatest (or best, thinking about USSR) airforce in the world (Sweden was acctually on the fourth place during a period of the cold war)

then i don't know after that

UK, retain the Empire, maybe bring some former devotees of the empire back into the fold and be the first man on the moon!
Communist China, Become the communist global hegemon and superpower of Asia, China will grow larger!
Nationalist China, reunite the country, might, might not become a democracy see where that goes
USSR, WE WILL BURY YOU
North Korea, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5yyWZ2Z6Ps
South Africa, would be interesting to be the nation under siege and support Rhodesia

Soviet Union: Invade Afghanistan and Iran, make them into SSR's, ally with the Arab stats and try to control the world's oil market for great success.

With the Straits of Hormuz controlled by the USSR that would put much of the world's oil under direct Soviet control. Even if its not that good of a thing in game, I'd still like to pul it off in a game just for the RP aspect :D
