The AI never ceases to amaze me. And by that I mean their boarders.
Thy are indeed ugly...
Yes ... one reason at least why I find myself unable to enjoy it.
There are settings to rectify this, though. I just didn't use them in the game.
Is that because the level of border gore finally overwhelms your computer, which crashes and deletes the game in shear disgust at the mapping horror it is being forced to display?
Well............. :D It did complain, I convinced it to continue and then a technicality called "1453" occured.
The border gore is strong in this one.
And this Armenian Africa. And the Kingdom of Tahert near the Baltic sea...
Right?:p

Byzantium must regain lost glory!

The HRE's collapse will be... interesting to see.

Yes, unfortunately CK3s exclave settings are like a puny version of CK2s - it's like trying to build a sea-wall. In CK2 there was a high tide and you were restricted in building out of loose stone and twigs. In CK3 the sea level has risen, there is a storm surge, and the game insists you only build with sand.

Ok, a bit of a twisted analogy, but I think you can see what I am driving at.

Not playing the game though doesn't stop me from enjoying reading stories in it :)

Yeah, I don't have much experience in number of games. These three AARs are my only games except for a succession game I'm doing with some internet friends on Discord. I sure hope Paradox fixes this though. :( The game is very fun even with the added, unnecessary chaos though. :)

Chapter XIII – 1374 to 1391
Chapter XIII – 1374 to 1391

“Curious, seems like the Chola has been busy lately.”

The Watcher scratched his chin.

“Look at that Empire their leader has built over the last few years. India is all but united.”

He smiled.

“Impressive, don’t you agree?”

The Creature nodded.

“Quite. All while France is going downhill in another civil war. Seems these Empires like that a lot. And they’ve lost Mesopotamia. All independent now. Not even the Holy Roman Empire is there now.”

He sniffed.

“I wonder how Chola will fare in that regard, now that they’re Empire status.”

The Watcher clucked.

“But look at Ireland. So strong and mighty. Although they seem to lose their current war. I wonder…”

He gasped.

“But look at Aragon in Iberia. Totally wreckage by this point. Oh do these humans love to wage war on each others… If only this edition goes to space… I wonder how they will become.”

The Creature grinned.

“Best to make a mental note to get back here in a few centuries’ time, don’t you say?”

The Watcher grinned back.

“Indeed. But we’re not done just yet.”

He pointed.

“Middle Seaxe is out of England now. And it seems out of Germany for that matter. Curious…”

The Creature clucked.

“And there the Holy Roman Empire spiraled down into civil war, while the French still wage theirs.”

He frowned.

“It’s a pity really. They have so much potential…”

He cocked his head.

“Wouldn’t you see that. Chola has collapsed. Almost completely. The death of their founder was not what the doctor ordered it seems.”

The Watcher nodded.

“Quite unfortunate. They had potential. Oh!”

He clapped.

“The French! They got out of their civil war. And now they’ve created a formal Empire. The Empire of Francia. What a joyous occasion for the French!”

The Creature winked.

“Quite an occasion. And they’ve returned to Mesopotamia. I think this warrants a celebration on our end too, wouldn’t you say?”

He stretched out his arms.

“U’bilian chicken, my friend?”

This map is starting to look like congealed vomit mixed with milk, and a bit of ham.

Favorite pastime in the new Empire of Francia- civil wars. As seem to be in ye goode olde Holy Roman Empire.

Nothing as spectacular as the Collapse of Chola though. Several Kingdoms, partition inheritance and several heirs, right?

This very ... unique

...which is coincidentally the delicacy the Watcher and the Creature will enjoy at the end of the next update.

Middle Seaxe in Novgorod. Africa... in Asia. Even the AI recognized that was madness and renamed itself Nikaea.

At this point, I’m wondering if this world map might be used as an example in the gamer’s dictionary, next to the entry for “bordergore.”

Interesting picture you gave me there. o_O

Not sure, but doutful. It was Empire tier, but it seems most of the kingdoms and other vassals left when the old guy died. Perhaps a faction? Not sure.

In a good way I hope. :D

Well, I think they have better tastes than that. ;) As for the spread out kingdoms, really a marvel to see. :p Very gorey, that's for sure.

But what if it’s Bzorglath vomit, mixed with Xathrac milk and... spiral cut hickory honey ham?

Hmmm, I think the Creature is allergic to Bzorglath vomit, actually. Possibly vomit in general.

What a joyous occasion for the French!”
And for their neighbours, because if there is one thing guaranteed to cripple an up-and-coming power and weaken it for generations, it is becoming an Empire and then exploding into civil war and tiny successors. Certainly it's happened to everyone else so far.

Everyone knows the Bzorglath is a pollen-collecting insect. Its vomit is the closest analogue to earth bee honey that there is on Rigel VII.

True, some infighting is good for the future independence of any neighbor. :)

Oh I know. I'll have to check with the Creature and get back to you. :D

Well, bordergore hasn't died yet.

Francia might be a glorious empire, but I'm not holding hope...

Shame about Chola. They had so much glorious potential. A united India would be interesting.

And was that an implied sequel to this in Stellaris?
