Hi all,

I'm a MP newbie and been interested in doing MP for a while, but the times for the other games (NA & europe) put me off .. finally an australian time game!

Is there any chance I can join/sub at this stage? Thanks.

Great to have you on board! An Australian player is more than welcome.

As it happens, the game hasn't started yet, since VNet was down when we tried to start on the 26th.

We shall try again on Wednesday 9th November, at 9pm AEST.

Casluerj has pulled out, so The Papal States is also available. Refer to the latest edit of the summary below...

Latest update with Casluerj retired, but dsk in.

Choose any nation on the Mediterranean smaller than 5 provinces (not counting colonies), spending $1000 ducats. $200 per province. $200 extra for 2 cultures, $400 extra for 3 cultures, $400 extra for a CoT. Money not spent will be credited to your nations Treasury for the start of the game.

I have created a Savegame called TheMedIsMyBathtub.eug, in which I have credited all the player nations with additional funds according to the rules above. This will be sent to all players who confirm their participation.

House rules listed at the beginning of this Thread. MP Chat and fun is more important than victory, but victory is more important than breathing.

nlilith Provence $400 cost / $600 credit
MattyG Milan $400 / $600
jcain Not Yet Selected
Fushin Order of St John $400 / $600
mikl Byzantium $200 / $800
dsk Not Yet Selected

You may playtest before the game, and change your minds up until we hit the "Start" button

Remaining nations in order of merit (in my opinion):
Granada($800), Savoy($600), Tuscany($200), Naples($400), The Papal States($400), Karaman($600), Morocco($800), Morea,Albania, Mantua, Athens, Modena, Morea, and Siena.

We are using AGCEEP Deluxe. Each player is to load the game, Update 1.08, Beta 21st April 2005, and AGCEEPdeluxe.exe fresh before the game. (NOTE: I still get a compatibility code of FXMG.)

Gamestart: Wednesday 9th November, 9pm in Melbourne and Bendigo, Victoria.

This is 8.30pm in Adelaide, South Australia and 4am in Jasper, British Columbia.

Hi All,

OK, let me register a bid for Naples ... which makes the playing list ...

nlilith Provence $400 cost / $600 credit
MattyG Milan $400 / $600
jcain Naples $400 / $600
Fushin Order of St John $400 / $600
mikl Byzantium $200 / $800
dsk Not Yet Selected

However, I do not get the same compatability code ... (at work, not sure what it was, but it wasn't FXMG or ZXMG) ... despite completely deleting EU2 from the machine and doing a complete install from scratch ...

Can I pick Styria?

If it's on the Med, then yes, absolutely. To be honest, I have no idea where it is and I will check tonight.

You should also make sure it has a good events file, so that you are entertained and challenged throughout the length of the game, which might be 6-12 months. This is a problem for Granada, where the events drop out at 1486 after the reconquista, and Byzantium. However the cheerful chaps at AGCEEP have written fantasy events for Byzantium and Order of St John which we will be using.

The idea is to create a game in which we are all forced to interact in some way, whilst playing smaller, challenging countries. By restricting ourselves to the Med we are making us all vulnerable to each other.

My code is L-something-or-other. I will check tonight from home.

It doesn't have Mediterranean coastline, but it's just next to Veneto and Istria so it's only one province away from the sea. It's also sandwiched between Venice, Austria, and Hungary.

It's definitely on the player theatre ie. North Italy, much more so than Granada (my likely other choice), and would give a nice balance to the spread of the player countries.

On the centre you have Milan, with the obvious aim of becoming the Kingdom of Italy.

On the west you have Provence, with French culture, which will be heavily involved in the Hundred year war.

On the south of Italy you have Naples, which will expand northwards at some point and may clash with Milan/Italy, depending on the ambition of the respective players.

On the far east you have Byzantium and The Knights, two natural allies who'll start off fighting the Ottomans.

A blank area is the northern Balkans .. which is where I'd come in if I get Styria. The natural expansion is towards the east (eg. balkans) and maybe north Italy, which will bring interaction with Byzantium and Milan.

So there'll be plenty of interaction with players imho.

One thing that you may want to consider is that it can become Austria if Austria doesn't exist, which may be unbalancing .. but with Provence expected to swallow France, Milan getting Italy, and Byzantium getting Anatolia + Balkans it's not really that out of scope.

There aren't many other countries that can be interesting and still fit into the self-imposed limits set in this game ..

I will accept this on the condition that you crush Milan like a worm.

LOL :D The mind games have begun I see :)

This makes the list:

nlilith Provence $400 cost / $600 credit
MattyG Milan $400 / $600
jcain Naples $400 / $600
Fushin Order of St John $400 / $600
mikl Byzantium $200 / $800
dsk Styria $400/$600

Leeettt'sss get reeaaadddyyy tooooo ruuummmbblllee!!

EDIT: my version has LRXF .. it's a brand new install.

Maybe the code also depends on the install directory?

I get LRXF as well.

Looking forward to playing.

Styria will NOT crush me like a worm, because it has to deal with Austria and I have great leaders and my people have avian flu virus and you will take it home and you'll DIE.

I am, like, SO glad this game has started with a friendly handshake...

I have played out Byzantium a lot, and I get crushed like a worm by the Ottomans everytime, with or without Avian Flu Virus. Or I crush Ottomans but I rack up a string of loans that I can NEVER repay. :(

Looking forward to Wednesday night. :)

LOL, I have to agree .. early on I'll be too busy surviving attacks (or trying to!) by Hungary and Bohemia :( and maybe even Poland

The hussites rampaging through Bohemia/Austria with their uber-leaders sure won't help either!

Styria is the poor beggar in the Austrian neighbourhood, but Milan is the bully in north Italy, so I ain't messin' with 'em! :D

I've got no problems with Milan if it sticks to north Italy .. Shall we call this a non-aggression pact?

You can send to either the address above or the one I PM'ed you, but the gmail account above has more space so it's probably better. Cheers.
