If it's on the Med, then yes, absolutely. To be honest, I have no idea where it is and I will check tonight.
You should also make sure it has a good events file, so that you are entertained and challenged throughout the length of the game, which might be 6-12 months. This is a problem for Granada, where the events drop out at 1486 after the reconquista, and Byzantium. However the cheerful chaps at AGCEEP have written fantasy events for Byzantium and Order of St John which we will be using.
The idea is to create a game in which we are all forced to interact in some way, whilst playing smaller, challenging countries. By restricting ourselves to the Med we are making us all vulnerable to each other.
It doesn't have Mediterranean coastline, but it's just next to Veneto and Istria so it's only one province away from the sea. It's also sandwiched between Venice, Austria, and Hungary.
It's definitely on the player theatre ie. North Italy, much more so than Granada (my likely other choice), and would give a nice balance to the spread of the player countries.
On the centre you have Milan, with the obvious aim of becoming the Kingdom of Italy.
On the west you have Provence, with French culture, which will be heavily involved in the Hundred year war.
On the south of Italy you have Naples, which will expand northwards at some point and may clash with Milan/Italy, depending on the ambition of the respective players.
On the far east you have Byzantium and The Knights, two natural allies who'll start off fighting the Ottomans.
A blank area is the northern Balkans .. which is where I'd come in if I get Styria. The natural expansion is towards the east (eg. balkans) and maybe north Italy, which will bring interaction with Byzantium and Milan.
So there'll be plenty of interaction with players imho.
One thing that you may want to consider is that it can become Austria if Austria doesn't exist, which may be unbalancing .. but with Provence expected to swallow France, Milan getting Italy, and Byzantium getting Anatolia + Balkans it's not really that out of scope.
There aren't many other countries that can be interesting and still fit into the self-imposed limits set in this game ..
