Do you think it would be possible to conquer Austria then? Or Italy, for that matter? The latter could become problematic, though, since you'd have to rely on them to agree to a peace ceding some territory, due to Switzerland not having any port province where to deploy transports.

Yeah but you will weaken Germany alot which is great if you want to backstab later or leave the Alliance before Aug 30 39. You would have to invade Austria before March 38 and you would be looking at a difficult winter fight, or a 37 invasion. Also Italy will likely DoW you IIRC.

Switzerland does have the rogue politician event like all nations I assume, which should make it possible to turn Paternal Autocrat by Jan. 1937 without cheating? I personally tend to experience it rather often within the first 2-3 years of the game myself.

With Germany I can imagine the fight is easy, but there's probably a risk of them taking some provinces I can imagine?

I tried as the Swiss the other day and couldn't change the sliders enough without cheating. I moved the interventionist one in 36-39. I'll try the autocrat one later and see if it triggers any events. You still have maximum dove slider setting as well.

Depends on what version of the game you're running. You have to race Germany (they have better doctrines than you +tanks) if you ally with them and theres GoI all over that part of the world. Odds are the Germans will get more of Austria than you due to terrain issues as well.
