Love this mod so far :), but my game is turning out somewhat weird. April 1939 so far.

1. I'm having partisans in Austria after annexation through anschluss.
2. Never got the munich conference. Did get Bad-Godesberg where Hitler decided he didn't want the sudetenland anyhow. Still, Tiso went to Berlin. And now I have a puppeted Slovakia, but the czechs are still independent and in control of Bohemia-Moravia.

This isn't WAD is it? :confused:

On the upside of things, Japan is really giving Nat. China a serious pounding, bordering on annexation by now. :)
 
Regarding (1): Thanks, that seems to be a miss on my part.
Regarding (2): Strange... I thought the Munich event chain would be working now, but it's incredibly complex so we might missed something in integration. I'll take a look see. End of Czechoslovakia doesn't trigger successfully all the way because the Munich chain didn't end correctly.

I also have a strange CORE2 game. I started as Panama, thinking I would run hands-off to see what happens, and because the new features overwhelmed me too much to start as a major. (It later became a hands-on quest for central american hegemony, but that's another story)

First, Germany never got the anchluss event. There was one like "Germany aids Austrian nazis", I'm not sure if that is the anschluss but with another outcome. It was some pretty shitty aid, since from then on Austria just sat there as neutral as Switzerland. Then there was no Munich conference, or Sudetenland. The only thing to happen was Tito being installed in Slovakia, which must have been a rude surprise for the still independant and never before pressured Czechoslovakia when they heard about it, especially the one eastern province that is totally isolated afterward. Now if Germany declares war on Yugoslavia, they will loiter around in their panzers and scratch their heads wondering how to get there.

Hitler then thinks to himself "At least I can claim Memel" but even the Lithuanians laugh at him. They still exist as just that province, after the Soviets gained their Molotov-Ribbentrop land absorbing powers. Germany, now the biggest joke in europe, finally gains some land when Poland goes to war over Danzig. It took until september 1940 to finally take down France.

On the North African front, the Italians advance to the border of Egypt, and stare at the English over in Port Said. Whereas other countries might trample all over the sovereignty of quasi-colonies such as Egypt, the English can rest assured that the Italians are too well mannered.

In Asia, the Chinese are being absolutely crushed by Japan. Japan seems to have found the winning strategy, "Let the local forces handle it". China also seems more reluctant to use it's AI power to annex everything.

Munich is definately fixed for next release - there was another little mistake with a date in one of the around 200 events in that chain (which means that if you deviate from the historical path we might find additional errors). :)

Asakura has started a thread on how to resolve it for the time being, but note my warning in that thread please (third post, I think).

Sorry for any smelling pistakes, but I've just got back from the pbu where I had more than the usual number of pints

Anyway

I'm a German player at heart, although I do like UK, USSR and Japan as alternatives from time to time. However, for CORE I've stuck to Germany just to see how things go. And they have gone thusly:

1) Instead of building up 90 '39 Cavalry divisions plus 12 panzers before 1939 which was my vanilla strategy, I've had to settle for more infantry and less mobile units instead- which is a more realistic balance for a cash-strapped Germany in 1939.

2) Having fixed the bug for Munich, I have still had two games where the historical outcome did not happen. In the latest, I had to stomp Czech into submission, which led to a split in the country, followed by Tiso taking over the eastern half whilst the western half continued under Czech control until I found the time to take them out in 1940. I actually believe that this kind of outcome (which effectively means WW2 starts a year early) reflects the riskiness of Hitler's gamble at the time- it could quite easily go wrong as go right.

3) Without the usual build-up to the invasion of Poland, USSR continues to behave as is the Molatov-Ribbontrop deal had gone ahead. Germany gains an advantage here as USSR does not readily DOW on it when Poland is conquered.

I noticed this is Vanilla HOI too. I can't march across the Suez to capture the other bank whether there are enemy ground units there or not. Naval presence perhaps? If that's what causes this then it's ridiculous. I can't imagine a navy stopping a crossing of the Suez.

Anyway I don't think this one is a CORE 2 problem.

*Edit* I totally misread your post. I think the problem you're referring to is that there is no state of war between Italy and Egypt. What I did, as Germany, was just declare war on Egypt.

Baylox, any Idea how long till patch's release ? I am starting to wonder if I'm just buying frustration by restarting another game. Is it in a few days or a couple of weeks ? Thanks.
