I have a setup with two 27 inch monitors with a resolution of 2560x1440. I used to have no issue with running eu4 in fullscreen windowed mode. But then one day (recently) the game decided that if i open the game in fullscreen windowed mode it will perform just fine. But if i click something on the other screen and then go back to eu4 the game now runs at 6 fps. So i am forced to use fullscreen at all times which is fine but also slightly annoying.

I cleaned the computer of dust after this and changed the fans because i thought it might be a heating issue. But the temperatures are well below the maximum limits. Cpu temp, gpu temp is all good. Two year old computer.

What could have caused this weird thing?

Given this is triggered by switching between monitors, it won't be an overheating issue.

What it exactly is I frankly do not know.

Did this come just after an update to your Nvidia or AMD video driver?

If Nvidia, unload GeForce Experience or the Nvidia app if they are running and see if that helps.

Thank you for the reply.

I just updated my gpu driver in geforce experience and the problem seem to have been solved. Maybe it was a bad driver version as you suggested.
