Day 4​

Today you reach Puebla, city halfway between Mexico City and Veracruz. As you rest at the local inn, accusations starts flying that De Chatillôn, the most Spanish member of the group, was seen praying in some strange language, one that definitely wasn't Castillan. Could it be that the old Aztec religion find a new follower in the unlikeliest of places? No harm done to put the theory to test. After hanging him, he reveals his true form: a nahual bent on destroying everything the Spanish Empire has built.

Night 4​

For the first time in three days, you spend a quiet night. It seems those who have infiltrated your group don't dare to make a move in such a populated city.

In my experience most GMs actually do move it... And Americans GMs ahve done it too.
But yes, the deadline itself doens't move from a time zone change. Hence this isn't the same deadline as yesterday, it has been moved an hour back due to the GM wanting to.

The pack has a name. Is that enough to conclude there are multiple packs or can we have single pack games where the pack has a fancy name?(asking the vets here, my memory of previous games can be hazy...)



Well, de chat was in the running day 1 and day 2, so that's the most interesting place to look for packmates.
On day we have Avernite, Randy and me voting de chat in the large tie(I swear that was a five way tie rather than a four way that day?), before I and avernite moved off de chat unto arky to stop a mass day 1 tie. Also of interest is chieron who moved to panzer there, possibly a move to save de chat as well. But given how large this tie was I'm not entirely sure this says that much, and I honestly still think that switch was the right thing to do, despite how it might look suspicious right now.

We can also try looking at the people who added more candidates into the tie once de chat was in the tie, since this might be an attempt to save de chat. Dedo and Alxeu(Alxeu created a five way tie after the votecount that was coloured) are in here, though Dedo created a two way tie which doesn't seem very wolfish as far as I can see. That's something a vill would do as well.


On day 2 we have randy, alxeu and dedo as the still living players who voted de chat as part of a votetrain. Then we see a switch into castor which had chieron, me, alxeu and dedo in it.

We should also note that de chat pushed up alxeu after de chat got 5 votes, which makes me think it's unlikely they're packmates.

Note that Randy helped instigate this switch despite him voting someone else at deadline because he tried to trigger a second switch afterwards. Randy played at least a role in triggering the train on de chat, I doubt he would do that to a packmate unless he's playing 4d werewolf and planned to trigger a counterwagon as well to score some goodie points in the process. But that is just too far out there as an explanation of what happened for me to believe it

Also note that Alxeu/dedo were both in danger of the lynch and prolly just joined the de chat train to save themselves. If I'm tracking the post numbers in the votecount correctly it also seems likely that they joined the castor train out of selfdefence as well since they were still far from safe there. That leaves just me and chieron as possibly trying to save de chat that day.



I know it makes me look really bad that I ended up saving de chat twice, but I didn't have another option if I wanted to avoid a mass tie day 1. Day 2 was just a bad call apparently, though IIRC the case on de chat that day wasn't overly strong either. Somehow every game i play as a villager I just end up looking extremely bad/incompetent

Anyway, if I disregard myself(I know I'm a goodie, even if I can't prove it) this seems to make chieron look especially bad. He moved to save de chat on day 2, and his day 1 vote also would've helped de chat(if he hadn't already been saved by me/avernite). I know he's been in the running two times already, but unlike the previous runups I think there's an actual case against him this time around.

The first game I ever hosted had just one pack called the Night Watch pack which made some people think there had to be a Day Watch pack as well. This was never my intention, I just thought all packs must have a name. This is ancient history of course but I can't remember any nameless pack but.

I moved to save DeChat?
I didn't move my vote to as I wasn't online during the time that bandwagon had traction (and I was in the big tie before). I didn't even realize, how far DeChat's wagon went before it was switched over again.
My comment on DeChat's incessant mentioning of protestants got me into the running next - where he stayed on me. I did not vote on him as the accusation was not meant seriously, being aimed at RP-bantering.
The big tie on day 1 had to be broken one way or another. breaking a fiveway doesn't necessarily mean saving anyone in there over anyone else.

Regarding the pack name:
Xolotl means "monster" in Nahuatl, so the name could be used for a singular pack.
However, Xolotl also is Quetzacoatl's brother and the pack color seems to be purple, which consider the secondary color for a pack. If there were only one pack, I'd have expected (dark) red. Also, the command chain often went like "villager leader", "baddie pack 1 2nd in command", "baddie pack 2 3rd in command", again pointing to two packs in this game.
Hence, I suspect that there are two packs. (three would be a bit too many for so few players).
I am fully aware that this points to myself again. Sigh.

I find Hax's shenanigans around the deadline today a bit odd, voting for someone else after the outing and switching around. Though Hax had always been erratic and hard to read.
Rereading the thread for day 4 up to the outing, the case for audren/avernite is interesting, but there was such a big wagon on them on day four that neither of them feel obvious and they are at least active.

I will admit that a play like that sounds tempting. But it feels like it could backfire spectacularly.

deChat cast a relatively high-profile vote against him Day 3. Chieron had been voted by Aedan, so it's not impossible this was a (somewhat panicky) sell-out, but on the whole I think this makes Chieron look a bit better. Of course, this is still potentially a 2-pack game, and Chieron still has the suggestive 'Maybe I already know how many packs and one of their names' flub against him.

I guess DeChat was literally videonfanning on day 2. Wow. Apologies to Sleepy, I guess.

It's tough to draw too many conclusions from the moves on and off of DeChat day 2. It was far from a guarantee that an alternative candidate to DeChat (ie. Castor) would be found, so engaging in a mass-switch onto him, even if later abandoned, would be a very risky thing for a Packmate to do (Unless you're Euro, who's not playing) so I do think Randy would be a fairly unlikely packmate as well. Dedonus was also run up against DeChat, and switched to him, even if this was largely in self-preservation. Yvanoff too looks a bit better after DeChat went after him yesterday. Also, I'd argue that Avernite's and DeChat's day 1 exchange was just a little too testy to be between packmates.

On the whole, I don't think there are really any 'slam-dunk' instances of people 'saving' DeChat. (Beartjah, maybe... but his day 1 vote mostly just looks like TIE prevention) And we have several subs and vote-missers about whom we have very little information. People like Matthew for instance.

I agree that Avernite and Chieron are pretty unlikely to be DeChat's packmates. Yvanoff potentially makes sense as a wolf who was protected from the lynch on Day 3.

I'm gonna go with Yvanoff here, but I'm not totally convinced.

Regarding activity. People have commented on me switching my vote around a lot earlier in the game. This is true.
However, it did trigger me a bit, since there is one, massive, glaring thing here standing out to me.

This is how you are supposed to play the game.

At least as a villager.

There used to be times when there were a bunch of people around doing this. Vote someone, rethink it, talk, change vote if necessary. Wash, rince, repeat.
Make the vote a bit unpredictable, follow your instincts, don't lay low all day with a single vote and never changing it. Question your fellow villagers, point your vote gun at them to make them uncomfortable, dig at it until you get answers. Especially don't just unquestioningly follow the village leaders, use your own brain.
That's the only way the village wins.

Once upon a time I constantly played the game that way. It got me killed. A lot. But it also made the game a lot more lively.
Nowadays I rarely have the time. God knows why I am doing it at times in this game. (Probably because I stopped playing some other game, I guess..)

But this is how you are supposed to do it.
