I owned it breifly, but just could never get into it. If you got into Paradox from EU3 onwards, as you seem to have, it might be really difficult to go back to the ugly (CK is by far the ugliest Europa game, imo) and outdated Europa-engined games.

Saying that, however, it'll be dirt cheap now, I think it has some decent mods, and if you're interested in that era of history, with money and time to burn, might as well pick it up.

I actually gave away my copy of it in a raffle on this very sub-forum, to Jopi, if I recall.

I own it and despite its buggy and laggy interface I played it a lot back when it was new. There is an expansion that supposedly improved it a lot but it came out after I stopped playing.

The main thing about CK compared to all other Paradox games (except maybe Valhalla Chronicles) is that it's all about people, not about the country/realm that you are playing. Usually makes for good AAR material but is a rather easy game to beat, game wise.

If you think you'd enjoy poisoning the true heir to the throne to get next in line, marrying off your 78 years old uncle to someones 16 year old cutie, getting a crazy, war-wounded hunchback with the plague and a lisp and still try to hold your realm together, trying to get your kinfolk as kings all over the map, bread a super-uber stat heir, etc. then this might be the game for you.

I never thought the game was all that ugly (although most character portraits are real ugly types with big noses etc.) but I played it when it was new. Like walrus says, it should only be a few bucks so why not give it a try so you know if CK2 is something for you when that is realesed next year?

Sorry. Malcolm is -the- go to guy for sci fi western themes, really.
Except if you're a girl. Then I know someone better .. :D

I thought the captain likes soft dresses, too.

and floral bonnets. Zoe is kept in the rear of the wagon for surprise.

I've played CK a lot, and to me it's my favourite Paradox game, after EU3. Also I can't wait for CK2 to come out, since it will be CK+EU3 = :D

It has a pro in the fact that Deus Vult brings useable screen resolutions, instead of the measly 1280 x something that Vicky, EU2 and HoI2 uses.

hmm yeh ill see about the price, CK2 seems like it will be really good, so wanted to get used to the game functions before it comes out next year kinda what i did with Vic and Vic 2. Cheers for your bountiful knowledge on this matter.

To be honest CK2 might or might not be as good as CK1. I for one consider what little I've played of Vicky 1 to be superior to Vicky 2 at least.

Wasn't there quite a few people who decided to retire/take a break after your game?

I wasn't there, but this tells me a lot about AOK :D

AOK is a noob's noob. Easier to lynch than a guy with a rope 'round his neck.

Read my game and then rethink your statement. It was the best in a good while. In the mean time, you are going to die.

Is that why you can never do it? And yes, that is a challenge.

I can do it. I choose not to. I don't do what is easy.

And this tells me even more about AOK :D
