Well anytone related to Santa or elves would work as RPing for this setting and I saw two Black Petes going around with someone looking very much like Santa Claus, handing out presents to kids when I changed planes in Schipol just before Christmas. So he can't be all that politically incorrect, can he?
Well there's a huge debate going on for about 4 years now in the Netherlands that Zwarte Piet should be abolished, because the figure is presumably racist. Traditionally Zwarte Piet became black due to climing through chimneys, but during the Dutch slavery era he gained some stereotypical African traits. There's some point to be made that these traits in particular are indeed racist, but unfortunately there's a group of (mostly white!) media-loving activists who take the argument further and to the point of absurdity. They completely ignore Zwarte Piet being Sinterklaas' kind helper and claim that, amongst others: The ruling white elite invented Zwarte Piet to mock black slaves, and that all foreign people look upon our country in disgust upon seeing the archaic tradition.
