@Jonti: relax. It sucks to be robbed of victory at the verge of it but he couldn't have known he would lose immediately. Relatively new player can't pick up all nyances what is and what isn't true announcement. Cut him some slack, please.

No. You gain a win you need to be alive when the game ends and be on the winning side.
