Looks like one already gave up the standoff.

[OOC] Yeah, blame school... :([/OOC]

The priest walks into the bar. As he can't see any cultists or sorcerers who claim not to be sorcerers but really are sorcerers, he wonders if he should even be here. But when he hears talk of lynching a beautiful young woman, he leaps into the fray.

"Fellow gunslingers, this lady is lusted after by many in our town! She is a gateway to sin! We must lynch her, and mutilate her in such a way that no man may ever lustfully eye her again!" After looking at the girl in question, he adds, "If need be I will lynch her myself... alone."

You dirty, corrupt cleric!

Can you explain how love is more of a sin than the mass murder of millions of my people by your men? CAN YOU EXPLAIN THAT?

...

Look, people, when I was in that cave, I made a pact with God. I knew I was foolish to have left Emma behind and gone after Marauder and his Holy Grail.

So I made a pact with God, that if he would let me live, I would dedicate the rest of my life to protecting Emma, to attempt to right the wrongs I have done.

Why would I want to fight the confederacy? Don't you think I've had my fair share of conspiracies, infiltration, deception and murder?

All I want is for this girl here to be safe, and I will not allow you, brutal murders to lay a single finger on her, and I will not depart this world before knowing that she is safe...

Are you seriously trying to get another mass vote-switch mess? After what happened last game?

Huh?

If you're referring to the three-way tie, the vote-switching had nothing to do with that. It was EURO's missed vote that caused it.

There were three candidates before the mass-switch, there were three candidates after. Either way, there was always the risk of an accidental tie. Trying to blame it on vote-switching that was finished long before the deadline is a red herring. The only way you can ever completely insure against a possible tie is by bandwagoning one candidate into oblivion, which has been proven a terrible tactic time and time again.

And the vote-switch helped give us the information we needed to find Nautilu and THE_SPLIT, it was incredibly valuable. It helped build a voting record that narrowed down the list of possible suspects, and we ended up lynching four wolves in 3 and a half days. The village won the game easily in the end, of course largely down to the seer scans but also the voting record.
So, all in all, not a great example to advocate against the method.

But no, I'm not advocating one today.

I'm not referring to the tie specifically, but that the people run up by it were villagers. And most of the wolves you lynched were by seer scans, I doubt the result would've been significantly different had we let day 1 go naturally. And it seems like you're trying to get a vote switch going again.

You seem to be implying this is a bad thing. The people run up before it - me, Hax, Ithvan, EURO IIRC, were also villagers. When you do it this early no-one ever claims it is likely to lynch a wolf on the first day (slightly more likely on average than stagnant voting, but not by much and only over the course of several games). The usefuleness of it is the voting information it creates which you can use to find wolves later on in the game. It is not intended as a magical wolf-finder on the first day and I have never ever advertised it as such.

The first two were, although I had voted tonkatoy before the announcement specifically because of his lack of involvement. But Nautilu was by analysis, and while the seer scanned THE_SPLIT on the last day, it was edundant as it was already blatantly clear he was the last wolf, as I posted just before I died.
I'm trying to get some activity. I'm not asking for any en masse vote-switches, although if anyone else wants to try one I certainly wouldn't stop them. But as things are, things are a little boring. If we get lucky and get a wolf by it, it's fine although we still don't really have much information to find the remaining three. If we lynch a villager as is statistically probable, I won't really have gotten any closer to making any conclusions about whom the wolves might be.

Will you be back before deadline?

Yep, back now. Though I won't say I'll be every minute from now on until deadline here. And this situation looks like that coveted Mexican standoff with nobody moving anywhere.

votecount above, need to redo my own count apparently. Or not - madchemist seems to have votes for Panzer Commader in two different places, maybe that's confusing people?

Hmm... easy way would be to just vote oyoyoy but that seems... I don't know, too easy at this point.

Unvote Hax, vote tonkatoy5

for more candidate viability.

This one should be correct, yes?

@ Marty: I know the feeling, first there's nothing in thread and then action blooms suddenly.

also: we have two "Gen. X" in this thread. How about Skobie and Marshall just for clarity?
