one thing this game hammered home for me is the all-consuming suckballs of starting with a night move.

the unfortunate bastard who gets iced never gets to have any fun. syber_sid, my hat's off to you.

so here's a way around it if GMs definitely want to start off with a night move--the seer gets the scan--AND THE WOLVES GET A SCAN.

they don't get to hunt anyone, but they know for sure if a player is the seer or not.

thoughts?

Cuz you were Seer.

Edit: Sorry. I just remember getting that from Thistle when I asked why he hunted me in Gotterdamnitall.

Ah, the game where I survived to the end as a god, only to discover, there were no gods... (in the words of Skobie :D)

No. First night kill is part of Werewolf. Deal with it.

I'm curious why you decided to hunt me on day 2?

Unfortunately, I managed to delete the PMs from the first couple of days, so I can't tell you for certain. It was jonti's call though, and judging from the reasons he advocated hunting AOK and OY... well, let's just jonti is quite opinionated. ;)

At least i don't change hunt orders without telling anyone else in the pack about it.

I advocated hunting AOK because he was far too dangerous to the rest of the pack, whatever other BS i might have said. Now, if you had disagreed with that you should have said, but to not inform the rest of the pack? That's plain rude.

I am terrible about that. I have done that more times than I care to remember, and often times I never tell packmates in the first place if I am running the show.

I need to work on that. :(

why?

it sucks for at least one player. here's an option where everyone at least gets to cast a vote.

It was nothing personal against you, but by the night of my death, you had to die - as all in the pack agreed apart from dublish, who didn't disagree with it to us but ninja ordered.

By the time I was hanged you were too much of a threat because:

You were unlynchable. Wolves don't sell out wolves when there is no need - they certainly don't sell out other high powered ones.

You'd got me killed, and in doing so found an "in" to the rest of the pack. With you dead, the wolves would have been able to operate with relative safety.

why?

That's the risk you take when you sign up though.

I used to get hit first night all the time. I hated it, but it is part of the game. Giving the wolves a scan is out of the norm, and would add a totally new dimension to the game that is not appropriate for Lite in my opinion. It would lead to Fake JLs and alot of other unintended consequences.

I understand the frustration, but it is part of the game. Getting lynched first day sucks too. Early death is simply part of the werewolf mechanism.

the fake JLs... hmm... interesting thought.

nonetheless... it bears looking into.

An occasional early death is part of the mechanism.

Oh, my bad, they do count. :p

An occasional early death is part of the mechanism.

Again, I used to die early all the time. I eventually proved that lynching me was not good policy. I also proved to the wolves that leaving me alive led to more interesting and entertaining games and the degree to which I was hunted early dropped significantly.

Early death seems to be out of one's control, but that is simply not true. You can effect it to a large degree, especially on the lynching end. The people who get lynched generally deserve it.

You can't prove that if you are never allowed to live that long.

Perhaps after Day 3 or 4, but almost never do they deserve it before then.

He can prove it if some wolves think it would be a great challenge to leave him alive.

I tried that the last time I was a wolf. But the villagers still lynched him.

It must be a rite of passage of WW because the newer players were doing it, too.
