*applauds hdk*

Good job. Kaet may have played like a wolf, but you played as a gentleman.

*nods* Indeed. That's a classy way to surrender, 10 minutes before the deadline. At least it keeps the tension up somewhat :)

edit: Kaetje does play like a wolf, but it's more or less her style I guess. Her mind just works in odd unlogical ways ..

Oh, I'm not saying she always acts like a wolf, but she didn't do a single thing all game that made her seem even semi-cleared. There's a reason every remaining goodie - plus me - thought she was the last wolf.

And another salute to hdk. I had been thinking of the Buffy game (ancient history) all week, as I kept seeing parallels in both this and the last game. I ended up surrendering on the last day there as well, which might have spared two goodies. The ending to this just makes things eerier.

I wasn't totally convinced. But doubted my own judgement on it.
At one point earlier in the game she even went "Do you want to see my PM box? Proof!"

I told her that would be cheating, though. Or at least close to it.

I hope the end to this doesn't leave a sour taste in her mouth though. She was having a lot of fun here, at least until the last day came and she felt powerless to prevent her own lynching ..

Jonti called it right on him on the first day. Let's not forget that either :)
As for the old game .. I fear wasting a lot of time on reading that thread .. ;-)

@hdk. That's a gentlemanly way to play. It's nice to see that in WW. :)

I'd also like it mentioned that I had him pinged very early on :p

EDIT@ Thanks Randy :) I got you wrong, but him right. hdk tripped my spidey sense, but I had nothing to back it up.

It is. It's the equivalent of a screenshot, which would be prohibited by the rules.

Good game by the village by the way. My anger at being lynched for the not voteswitching thing was certainly lessened when I came to know it was actually because I had been scanned :p

My Scans

Night 1: Lord D

Night 2: Thistletooth

Night 3: Lord Strange

Night 4: Randeker

In retrospective I should have scanned hdk last night instead of randy but that points moot now.

well done village :)

I wanted to hunt cuth...lol :p
seemed the only person left to be the seer...but even than I knew I wouldn't be able to convince jonti of my innocence :p and neither the rest of JL...

normally (in the past) I would try...but kaetje really fought for her win so I decided she deserved it :) more than me atleast.

this game shows yet again I suck as a wolf.... :p I manage to get my packmates killed for some reason :p

btw weird nobody called me on my semi-defense of yoe yesterday :)

tnx again Euro for GMing

as for hunts...1st one was random....2nd one I wanted first jonti dead, but with lord_d outed the only reasonable thing to do was to kill thistle. yoebie went for lostie as a seer. than the only candidate left was cuth :p I knew it was weird he was among the 3 contacted by tt :p

edit: btw this was the 2nd time I gave up :p last time was with jester :)

Figured as much.

That actually made me very suspicious. Why all the votes on you, and virtually none on LS? It made me mistrust Thistle too, even though I already cleared him in my mind earlier. Something was going on with that vote, I just didn't know the details :)

I am contacting you three on behalf of the seer. Lordy is a scanned wolf, and he must die today. However, I would rather not out him publicly. With three wolves and only ten starting villagers, the baddies would be on the verge of parity if a goodie is lynched today. While that makes it a little more dangerous to not out Lordy well before the deadline, it also makes it important to get as much information on the village as we can get, as we essentially have one less day than Lites usually have. If Lordy dies without an official outing, that makes it more likely the village can analyze their way to clearing some goodies. We need to make the most of this lynch.

Cuthy, hdk, jonti, I have chosen you as my blind contacts. None of you are acting terribly wolfish, and you aren't good lynches, especially with what I already know about Lordy. Also, you aren't Strange, who's still my #2 suspect. Given the difficult position the goodies are in in this game, that's good enough for me. Furthermore, it is impossible for all three of you to be wolves, so this eliminates the possibility of my totally fucking up and asking the other two wolves to kindly lynch their buddy while I'm away. Obviously, if one of you is a wolf, you'd be stupid to defy my eminently reasonable request and let Lordy live even one more day. In either case, I'd like your votes to be on Lordy at the deadline. Don't push him too hard or too early; I'd like to see how the others react to this. Also, I'll be watching how you handle this, and so will the seer. Hunting me won't do you much good.

My motivation for contacting you is that I will be away at, before, and after the deadline, and won't even be near a computer. And given that the seer has only me to be the spokesman, and given that lynching a goodie today would bring us to the brink of parity, and given that we need information nao, I figure that somebody should be actively trying to get Lordy lynched today, hopefully without tipping off the rest of the pack that trying to save him is futile. With my vote for him set, the three of you could get Lordy lynched easily. Again, it's a risk, but I see no better option for the second-to-last-day, with my being away and all. Besides, an early outing would be lame, and I wouldn't want to do that after yesterday.

So make a case against Lordy, but don't act like your vote for him is a done deal. Switch around if you like, just vote for the right person in the end. If you must, go ahead and out him with 15 minutes left or something, if that's what it takes to bring him down. We don't want the wolves giving up on him too soon. Or if you are a wolf, hi Lordy! *waves* :)

Yoenit "almost got you killed" on Day Two. Why didn't you use that in your defense? He managed to put up some separation with a packmate that day, just the wrong packmate.

Yes I was wondered why I wasn't hunted. I really made no attempts to hide that I was the seer and expected to be hunted long ago. I was actually going to start to try and arrange a tie between you and Kaetje (she almost conviced me) simply because if I knew I was wrong I would be hunted on the next night. Problem is I thought the deadline was one hour later than it actually was, so by the time I logged on again and about to pm randy it was already over.

Lord D was dead meat anyway, as he could be outed if necessary. I decided to jump hdk to put some distance between us instead of a late vote on Lord D, which would be useless anyway. Did not expect to get lynched for that.

That TT included you as one of the three "probable villagers" in that pm of his led to me believe you were not the seer.

That you asked hdk (and jonti) to vote like that is what made me have no evidence on hdk. You trusting him at that point made him someone you guys trusted later on as well, cause he voted good. Even though it was by order of the JL.

And a real wolf would never had been that obvious about saving a packmate. I really didn't know what the fuck was going on with Lord D. He was being ganged up and I didn't understand why.

So basically the JL working in secret like this is what fucked me over and kept hdk hidden.

the_hdk: thank you for surrendering. I won't forget that.

For the record, I did not trust hdk. My last PM to Cuthy before I went away and was hunted:

Jonti is not a very likely wolf at this point, but hdk isn't cleared yet.

Strange would be a good scan if you don't already have a target for today.

Yes right now my top 3 suspects are Strange, Randy, and HDK

Randy and hdk are hard to pin down, but I would hesitate to call them top suspects. Lordy went offline 90 minutes before the deadline yesterday, when the vote count was:

marty (3)...yoenit, Cuthy, hdk
hdk (3)...Losty, jonti, marty
randy (2)...walrus, Kaet
walrus (2)...Lordy, TT
Kaet...Strange

No votes: randy

Now, Lordy already had a vote on a known villager, but would he disappear and not try to make any arguments if he had both of his packmates up in the running? His vote for walrus was the second of the round, after that he merely showed up, and did nothing.

When drawing up the names of the people to whom I was going to send the previous PM ("an emissary"), I knew that I was going to send it to Cuthy and jonti, but the third name I wasn't sure about. And there had to be a third name, or else I didn't think I'd be able to pass off Cuthy as an unscanned non-seer. Jonti and Cuthy already had their votes on Lordy, so it should have made perfect sense why I included them, but if I contacted less than three people, it woudn't seem as likely that I was trying to spread my net of contacts wide enough to avoid two possible wolves. If I had only contacted jonti and hdk, and if they were both wolves, they probably would have just ignored it and hunted me, as there wasn't a guaranteed villager also in the mix to keep them honest. That's the main reason I put Cuthy in the list - to scare the wolves I accidentally contacted into going after me that night instead of going after possible seers, as well as to hopefully throw them off his scent.

I didn't consider hdk cleared. But as he and randy were the only people I considered even semi-reasonable third contacts, I had to choose between the two of them. As I was worried about the potential two-headed dragon that you and randy represented, I felt it was unwise to include him, so I went with hdk. I included plenty of backups in the event I accidentally contacted a wolf. Even though I would have been admitting that Lordy was scanned, that the vote was rigged, and that the wolves would be smart to sell him out, the only likely result would have been my death, which would have bought Cuthy an extra scan. That's totally worth it, especially given how the goodies had such long odds under the current setup. As I said earlier, I'm more than willing to risk myself for my allies, but I won't risk all of us at once and stake the entire result of the game on one night. I just won't. I'll make myself a selfish bastard hated by all before I put the entire pack's future on one bit of luck.

So I erred in choosing hdk. Yeah, that wasn't perfect. But I had an additional backup - Strange. Even while going after Lordy, I kept accusing Strange, both publicly and privately. I was hoping to trick the wolves into going after Strange, so that if Strange was a wolf, he'd die as usual, and if Strange was a goodie (I told Cuthy to scan him), the wolves would also have exposed themselves in going after him while hiding behind the dead me and my earlier accusations. Had I had the time to be around before the deadline, I would have spelled out my strategy to Cuthy, though that would have probably lead to the same results, as you would have inadvertently stumbled into my trap and drawn the same attention you did anyway.

And that's exactly what you, randy, and yoenit did. You went after Strange right away as soon as I died, with the only explanation being that I suspected him. And hdk didn't. He actually defended him, which is more than a wolf needed to do to hide himself. Strange never even revealed that he had been scanned and cleared, which is what I had been expecting him to do once Cuthy had told me of the scan result. But when you and randy went all-out against Strange and hdk held back, I figured that made you the most likely wolf, along with yoenit. From what little I've seen of you since I've come back, Kaet, you're plenty active, and you clearly care so much about winning and playing well that you can be driven to flipping out and cursing out everyone else (I understand that, I'm the exact same way), but you are still fairly new, and so I believed you would be capable of making such errors, same as I was more than a year after I started here. And I guessed wrong.

Hdk knew exactly when to act like a wolf and when exactly to act like a dopey, clueless villager. Maybe it wasn't intentional, I don't know. But it worked. Still, he wasn't cleared, even when I was still alive. I didn't have a strong bead on him until after my death, he, along with you, randy, and Losty, were all good suspects. Jonti was pretty much cleared, no matter how suspicious of him I usually am. But you and hdk were not. And in the end, hdk was able to sorta-semi-clear himself, which was enough, considering how you unfortunately stumbled into one wolfish act after another. You got lucky that hdk let you off the hook. I hate to say it, especially given how much you clearly wanted to win this one, but going by your actions in this game, you really didn't deserve to win. Totally inadvertently, you made yourself into such an easy wolf suspect that it would have been damn irresponsible not to put you as the top suspect.

But that's not a bad thing. You exposed yourself by trying too hard, getting too involved, and being too suspicious of others. None of those are remotely sinful in this game. You just got unlucky this time. I love your approach to the game, and I love your dedication. Don't change one bit. :)

Yep, been there. Times twenty :)
