Several times in the game I have noticed the sound of a harp. It seems that it has something to do with merchants. Sometimes when I lose a merchant in a COT I hear this sound. The latest time I heard this sound I gained monopoly in a COT. But, as far as I can recall, I have lost merchants and gained monopoly several times without hearing this sound. Only the latest times I've been taking notice that when I hear it something simultanously happens according to merchants.

I guess all EU experts know exactly what this sound means. Would anyone be so kind to share his or her knowledge. I can't find anything on this subject in the manual.

Confused by invisible harpers

I think the sound plays every time a monopoly has been achieved by any country in any COT. That may very well at times coincide with your merchants being thrown out somewhere.
Not very useful.
Actually I would prefer a message to arrive telling me when my merchants fail to increase our trade in a certain COT. As it is now, I've got to guess (probably unlike the AI), unless they've driven out someone else's merchant, which does initiate a message.

I've been investigating this a bit more. I'm not so sure it even has to do with merchants or trade. It just doesn't seem to coincide with anything special happening. And I have almost every message on in the text log, except for those appearing elsewhere.

I would really like to now what that harpers sound means :-( Is there something important happening without me knowing it? Like that trumpet sound when you get an offer from another state...

Still I'm confused.
