716 relies on its 150mm artillery and A phase carpet bombers to gain the initial upper hand.

I usually do pretty well with them

Recently, was facing against the scots and he went with a heavy 25pdr build. At 2400m I had no way of dealing with them, and was already struggling with Crocs. He would arty any defensive position I had then roll crocs in to burn everything down. Crocs themselves werent the issue, his artillery was. So with Arty only reaching out to 1600m, how can I play against what ended up as a 4 gun battery of 25pdr?
 
Basically the same thing Allies need to do against Sk 18s:
-Bomb it.
-Shuffle your defensive positions around after they get a kill.
-Ignore it.

Plus, you get one extra option:
-Ask a teammate who has Sk 18s for help.

Other than that, you can't really do anything, unless you want to get really creative:
-Use one of your 1600m units to fire at the enemy front line from max range. if your opponent moves his 25-PDR close enough to counterattack that unit, it is close enough for you other 1600m units, that are waiting right at the front line, to fire at.
 
Make sure your defensive positions in that area are kept minimal and stealthy. Focus your forces for a push elsewhere. Keep artillery resistant units in reserve,behind LOS cover, and pop them out when he goes in for a push.
 
JU-88 is the only way, but very effective way actually. 716 really suffering from lack of long range arty and any good tanks for med late game.
 
Arty spam is the most game breaking thing for me. If I have a counter I play it and it´s most time fine but in some divisions and phases there is no counter and the allied AA is so much better then the german that I can´t use my planes effective to counter.
So in some games a lot of my troops get simply destroyed while I can´t effectivly counter it. That´s a lot frustrating gameplay and it doesn´t require any skill at all. :-(
I wished that would be changed since it´s only annoying and really no fun to play. In real stationary infantry would simply dig in if they realize that there is arty incoming all day. If my infantry would get a dig in bonus all X minutes they are at the same position while arty shot before or I give them the order it would be a great solution imo.
Or raise the costs, give less slots/cards to stop that stuff pls. Arty generally is fine but if players spam it and you have an infantry deck that is more defensive it´s just game breaking since there is nothing you can do against it if you have no option for counter arty.
