We've seen the preview of map changes, and we know 'national fervor' is going to be somehow involved.
My hopes would be:
- New/improved subject types to represent federal-ish entities (eg, the Austrian kingdoms)
- Diplo play rework (if not in scope for 1.10, hopefully by the end of the year)
- Market area breakup (didn't make the cut for 1.9, but breaking up US/Russia/etc into smaller chunks would be great)
- Greater consistency breaking up the Ottomans into subjects (the Wilayet breakdown seems often inconsistent – Hejaz and Tripolitania don't seem very independent, for example, whereas the Sudan should probably be a subject of Egypt). This becomes more important if Bulgaria is a headline tag for the DLC, given that it doesn't exist in 1836.
- Greater importance on monarchs as characters
- Italy forming WITH Venetia and Lombardy
You can see map changes (perhaps not final) here: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...las-paper-map-the-new-newsletter-map.1788545/where?
Which, we can assume, ties in with this part of the roadmap:
- National Awakenings: New narrative events tied to National Fervor to better model the historical rise of nationalism in the Balkans.
- Introduce a concept of national pride which can increase or decrease depending on a country’s actions and which ties directly into legitimacy.
Vietnam, Cambodia, Burma (I think) has also changedAah, yeah Ethiopia is very much different
Yeah, me as well. However, the DLC has also tended to make the AI 'do something' which is always nice; eg, pre-1.8 the Sikh Empire never got conquered.I seem to recall devs cautioning us against expecting too much in the way of mechanical reworks from National Awakening so I'm trying to temper my expectations... I just hope it does make the Austrian empire fun to play in, so far most of the regionally focused flavor dlcs have made the regions more frustrating than they were at launch
