40% of the games played are from the "big powerful ones", and then the next 30% is more "meme" countries like Byzantium, Sweden, Brandenburg etc.

Ottomans and France alone together has 12% of all games played every day.

The goal is to eventually make more flavor for South America, but its a region that has had attention from 3 DLC so far, with Conquest of Paradise, El Dorado & Golden Century, and its never been popular.

I think that these DLCs were half focused on south america. And the other half was more about europeans colonizing it.

The only thing I want changed for the region in particular is the claim spam the two times i've built empires i've been constantly attacked by every colonizer under the sun no-one wants to work with you at all ever because they all want every last one of your provinces. The only workable alliance i've found playing as Inca or Aztecs is the Ottomans. But to do that you have to No CB a city that's inside of the Ottoman diplo range to get that alliance. Then finally the colonizers quit harassing you.

Personally I think what South America needs as a priority is a better incentive to colonize. More depth of terrain/wastelands, varied trade goods, reorganization of trade nodes/centers of trade. I think flavor for natives, while nice, is just meme content like what the aboriginals got, so it's no surprise its not as popular.

In truth, what really irks me is the attention north America got. Sure, those DLC you mentioned touched up SA a little bit, but we gotta be honest and say the magnitude of content NA received was a league of its own, because one little personal project was allowed to go too far, and it unfortunately opened a can of worms.

It is usually no surprise that SA gets the short end of the stick in media, but it just kinda hurts you know? Feels like our continent is a big wasteland while NA was this big promised land with riches and potential and wonder.

Work on the Iberian countries and England must necessarily involve work on the mechanisms of colonization. And so, at least a little, work on South America.

Golden Century was focused in Iberia, North Africa and meme pirate nations, this pack have almost 0 content for SA.

Conquest of Paradise was focused in native councils of North America, there are less than 10 native councils in South America and 50+ in North America. Conquest of Paradise have colonial nations content too, but again the focus was for more colonial nations content in North America.

El Dorado was focused in Mexico, Central America and Andes.

The only DLC with a resemblance of focus in SA was El Dorado with a third of the DLC dedicated for the Andes, the rest of South America was never the main focus of any DLC.

The map speaks for himself, zoom out and looks South America compared to any other region, this is the only continent full of emptiness.

For starters, QFTNW should only make one eligible for an event that allows transoceanic exploration...one largely contingent on Portuguese progress around Africa towards India, with geography, Naval/Maritime ideas and Navy Tradition also in play. Plan B routes could come through Vinland or Grand Banks fisheries, but those should only very rarely occur in absence of Portuguese collapse.

So, what, if I eat Portugal, Castile's idea group pick gets wasted?

Not eating Portugal sounds like a plan.
I think you have assumed that I was asking this from the perspective of a human player playing Castile.

I would be interested to see how you might amend your response, given an additional piece of information:

I don't play Catholics.

I don't play for Catholics, at least until they offer me a better deal than my current Baptist gig.

Considering what countries have been confirmed to get an update in the next dlc, it seems the main focus is on tier 1 and 2 countries from this list. We probably won't get anything new for Sweden, Denmark or Poland/Commonwealth, but considering France is part of it I expect at the very least GB, Spain, Portugal, Persia, Timurids and Mughals. Not sure about other tags updated with the Emperor (Austria, Netherlands, Venice and Brandenburg/Prussia in this case), I guess Austria is the more likely to receive yet another update. Mamluks are unlikely at the moment in my opinion, they should be the star of a future dlc about the Middle East.
Starting from there, I'd say the part of the world which need the most rework would be, the Arab and Berber states, Latin America in general, the Caucasus, Central Asia/Pontic Steppe, South Asia, West Africa/Sahel, Madagascar and Siberia. Colonial and post colonial states should also receive content, and I think everytime we create a colonial subject, we should be given the choice to continue playing as this new tag. We have events offering to play as Akans and Fulanis for being at their border, after all.
