To add to the religion features -

------ I think instead of having 4 fixed categories of gods (fertility, war, commerce and the other one), the system should have 4-7 free open slots in the 'pantheon' that players can fill up with deities, and tailor the state faith to suit their own needs.

So if I want 3 economic deities for my tall nation, I can stack them together and be rich, at the cost of missing out on warfare and expansion bonuses. If I want to build a warlike nation with Mars, Neptune, Bellona, Juno and goddess Roma herself, I should be able to do so, building a powerful zeal-based military despite that meaning my economy/people/politics/state won't receive any favour from the clergy.

Once they occupy a place in the pantheon, any changes or removals should come with the usual stability hits and such.

It would be even better if deities each came with their own special actions (character actions, state actions and actions for pops) like how CK2/CK3 has different features enabled for different religions.

------ Secondly, the "spam click every 5 years to receive buff" style of omen system is very, very bad design. It has to go. Hell this garbage system was criticized not just in Imperator, but also in the original EU-Rome all the way back in 2008. They ignored all the comments in the 2018 dev diaries pointing out the obvious before release, and made omen system even more easy and neutered (there are no negatives any more, just spam click and get free bonus lmao).

Omens/haruspicy should be made more realistic - automatic every few years, and automatic with every big event like war declaration or succession - and tied to things like relations with the high priest, government type (theocracies versus all others), presence of holy sites, relics and so on.

------ Thirdly, converting to another religion should be made possible like EU4 and CK3.

If my Roman Empire is following the traditional Olympian religion but my ruling Emperor is Christian (because lets say he was educated by a Christian or became a convert - sadly character system is completely missing from the game), it should be possible to convert my state religion to Christianity with heavy costs (and/or a mission tree). Another way - if I put a lot of foreign deities in my pantheon (lets say I put a lot of Christian saints/official creeds represented as deities in my deity slots), it should be possible to convert to that religion (again possibly a dynamic mission tree).

Currently the only way is through fixed instances like Rome (Italic -> Olympian) or India (Vedic -> Buddhist), or the very rare case of conquering a foreign land as a barbarian tribe where you can have a capital filled with non-slave pops of majority foreign religion.

------ Religious interactions for characters are kinda important. For example, divorce is not even present in the game because they forgot to add it, it had to be modded in. Similarly, characters with religious traits should have automatic ambitions and choosable actions to participate in temple rituals and meditations.
