i learned of the franchise because of a gaming news article in a console magazine because of an in development version of EU for the nintendo DS.
I learned of the game because after watching HOI4 videos and enjoying the timelapses, the algorithm introduced me to the game from creators like AlzaboHD when he made voiceless timelapse videos explaining what was happening with sidebars updating with dev changes, diplomacy and wars. This is what got me interested in the game.
 
Sardinia-Piedmont was the first formation decision implemented based on community suggestion.

Oh yeah I recall Albania. I was one among others that suggested more provinces and I got flak for that.

Useless things? Hmm. Well, I remember how to abuse the game with black flagged armies. I remember how the old estate system worked. I remember when the Influence idea group reduced AE impact and when the Exploration idea group gave you two colonists, not one. I remember lots of out of date and useless stuff, lol.

There is a Trade Dispute, Trade Protection, Trade War, Trade Conflict and Trade League Dispute casus belli. All 5 of them are basically identical and allow only for taking gold, not land.

Some of them are superiority wargoal, the others are blockade. I have no idea which are which though without looking them up.

And they were also amazing at breaking Ming due to devastation caused by blockades, usually unopposed due to their very weak navy, leading to major Mandate loss after a while.

However, the anti-privateering Trade Protection lets you make subjects and release nations, so if you REALLY want a baby Palembang or something, you can get it easily enough.
