Ship_class_names are what you call the entire class of ships while ship_names are the names for individual ships.
If you are familiar with Star Trek or Star Wars it will be easy to explain.
In Star Trek the original Enterprise was a Constitution-class (ship_class_name = Constitution, ship_name = Enterprise) and the Enterprise-D from ST:TNG was a Galaxy-class (ship_class_name = Galaxy, ship_name = Enterprise)
In Star Wars the Millenium Falcon was a modified YT-1300F Light Freighter (ship_class_name = YT-1300F, ship_name = Millenium Falcon).
