Inspired by similar thread in EU3. Believe me, I like the music but lately I've been experimenting with other music.

I now have the menu music as "Crusaders" theme from Kingdom of Heaven: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oq5Xkfz_MW8

I've also included some other songs from the Kingdom of Heaven soundtrack as well as music from the following Harmonia Mundi CDs:

You guys can recommend any medieval music? Also, if there's a CKII I assume Andreas Waldetoft will make the music. I can't wait to hear what that will sound like.

I was about to recommend Kingdom of Heaven, but it seems we think alike. That entire soundtrack fits CK like a glove, everybody should have it. Shame the movie was a bit rubbish.

Love's Illusion (Music from the Montpellier Codex, 13th Century) - the Anonymous 4
Carmina Burana (Medieval Poems and Songs) - Ensemble Unicorn & Ensemble Oni Wytars
The Black Madonna: Pilgrim Songs from the Monastery of Montserrat (1400-1420) - Ensemble Unicorn
A Distant Mirror: Music of the 14th Century - The Folger Consort
Chominciamento di Gioia: Virtuoso Dance-music from the Time of Boccaccio's Decameron - Ensemble Unicorn
Dufay: Chansons - Ensemble Unicorn

That mostly. Most of them are from the Early Music section of Naxos records.

The director's cut is much better--I highly suggest it. It doesn't delete Orlando Bloom from the movie, but it does improve a lot of other things.

I have the director's cut. It's still rubbish, mostly because of gross historical inaccuracies. This really isn't the place though. I shouldn't have brought it up.

This site http://www.ancientfm.com/ has a nice big playlist of medieval and renaissance music. Some of it is anachronistic for CK, but most if it works and the rest is still enjoyable. The variety is the real draw.

Great thread! (Taking notes) :)

I listen to a lot of old music not always staying within the CK timespan. I mostly cheat and listen to music from 1400-1500 also.

But Jordi Savall is one of my absolute favorites. Sometimes I also listen to Hildegard von Bingen + many uncredited and even sometimes modern "for fun only" bands like Vox Vulgaris or others who are inspired by old music.

I did find some examples of the music I like with CK:
