Lol but mostly with friends i rarely play alone.

Dawn of man.

Slay the spire.

As for other paradox games

I used to play large amounts of eu4/ck2 but i kinda tired of those not sure why, but i still come back from time to time.

I have been trying to get into ck3 but i havent really succeeded not sure why.

I was always curious how is it compared to imperator? Since the two launched in a close proximity and are set in the same time period there was always a comparison between them.
Wow, that's a huge question!

Best answered, really, by watching a couple of episodes of a Let's Play. But, even though I'm going to miss a lot here (it's a big game and I haven't played it in a while because of I:R, that's about to change :( ), I'll give it a shot just keep in mind, please, that I'm only scratching the surface here:

It's part of the Slitherine/Matrix stable so, as one might expect, it's heavily focused on history/strategy, less so on "pretties", although it's by no means "ugly." It also means that there isn't as much room for fantasy playthroughs as in a typical PDX game, although it's also not "railroaded" (I expect to get a lot of "respectfully disagrees" on that one ;) ). Oh and turn-based too, not "pausable realtime".

It's also a mouthful to get into, but to a PDX gamer that's really not a big deal. I mean, we're all of us used to "learning cliffs with overhangs", aren't we? :) I personally like that, by the way, so it's not a criticism at all.

It's also way more punishing when it comes to "holding it all together" than, say, I:R. Expect to feel like a Dutch guy with a bunch of holes in the dyke and not nearly enough fingers to plug them all as your "realm" grows bigger.

And, finally, if you also happen to own Field of Glory II (not a requirement), it can export every battle you fight to a turn-by-turn tactical scenario that you play out on a map in traditional "miniature format." You don't have to use it for all battles, but you can if you so desire.

Just a few overall pointers, very few actually, so again: Hunt down an LP on YouTube if you want to get a better grasp of the feel and detail of it. It's not everybody's cup of tea, but I like it.

Thanks a lot for the overview!!! I have been thinking about visiting that title for some time now but I felt quite positive for the future of I:R. It certainly seems to scratch that itch for a grand strategy game set in the antiquity. I will watch some lets play for sure. :)

Vicky 2 (obviously ;) )
EU IV (but not since Emperor brought AI spiral debt)
HoI 4 - but Kaiserreich mod, not vanilla game
Unity of Command 2
Red Dead Redemption 2 (WHAT A GAME)
Strategy Command 2: World at War, and WW1
And logically - Imperator: Rome (and I ll continue doing it so)

That is the current situation. What I am playing this year.

The architect: Paris early access. A great sandbox tool for those interested in architecture and urbanism in a metrically accurate model of Paris. Not much of a fame, but I unleashed my inner Corbusier and already have 30 hours in it.

The venerable Rome Total War with total modifications. Last year I had a blast with INVASIO BARBARORVM (IB) - SOMNIVM APOSTATAE IVLIANI ;)

Just before the big bad news happened for Imperator, I started a campaign on Europa Barbarorum (1.2). I has been a decade since I played it. The mod is even greater than I remembered. I love the depth of historical details and the slow civi style gameplay.

Since the new year I alternate gaming sessions on FM21, HoI3, Cities Skylines, Dawn of War 2, Dragon Age Inquisition and FIFA 21

I started playing "old world" again yesterday. I'll try to stay with that semi-regularly for a while. It's basically reimagined civ with characters+families and an orders-system to represent administrative capacity / ruler-efficiency. It's made by Soren Johnson of civ 3-4 make, and his Mohawk studios.

the family /character mechanics are less pronounced than in IR but still reminiscent, as is the era. lmk if you try it out, it has good multiplayer potential as well.

The game I play the most is EU4, not only vanilla, but a lot with mods, like MEIOU, Common Universalis and Anbennar.

Also:
I:R
Stellaris
Vic2
CK2 (currently better than CK3, waiting for more content for the later)
Battle Brothers
Eador

I also like puzzle games, as Braid and Limbo, but play only until I finish the game, no replayability as the games above.

Also boardgames, like:
Chess
Marco Polo
Terra Mystica
Pandemics
Catan

Vic2 - I've been playing a lot recently since I got a new mod which adds some nice stuff to the game without all the bloat you get from HPM/HFM

Imperator - Haven't actually played too much recently, but I've been thinking about possible campaigns I'd like to do and planning them out.

CK2 - Unfortunately though, a mod ended up corrupting my game recently which forced me to purge all my files for it (including all my previous saves) and redownload, so now I feel like I'm back to square 1.

R2TW - Picked it up not long ago and have had a blast playing, but I've gotten a little burned out. I'm looking for some mods that adds new content/units, especially for the Seleukids, if anyone has recommendations.

Dark Souls 3 - Used to play PvP quite regularly but then my controller broke, so now I have to wait until I get a new one

SMITE - I play just about every day, and on weekends I play with both my siblings. It's pretty fun since we have good coordination, which lets us get away with using some more "experimental" tactics/playstyles.

Medieval 2 TW (for the overhaul mods, so much mods),
EU4,
vermintide 1,
cities skyline,
CK II

Stellaris (1.4k hours) my most played game.

Age of Empires 2 (1200-1300 elo) I usually play drush into archers or drush fc into knights.

Rome 2 totalwar just the campaign part, I usually auto resolve battles.

CK3 I have 200 hours.

Endless legends (usually play vaulters or broken Lords)

I'm currently playing Grand Tactician: The Civil War (1861-1865), and I'm having a blast. It is similar to total war, you have campaign mode and you have tactical battles, but both campaign mode (has policy mechanics, economy, recruit troops and organize OOB, supplies etc.) and battle mode (chain of commands for orders, feud between generals etc) are much less arcade, and a bonus is that A.I. really does its part.
It's like a GSG with tactical battles really. It is currently in development / early access going into the final version and the devs are really improving the game with each new patch and listening to the community.

I bet we will be presented with something similar in PDXCON REMIXED
