What start date and dinasty have more events?

Im new to this MOD, so my question is where the Team focused their efforts? Its safe to expect that the timeline of the TV Show/Books is the most rich event wise?

Also, how much scripted is this mod? Can I change the story completly?

Finally, can someone recomend to me some fun characters?

The War of Conquest, Robert's Rebellion-ish, A Clash of Kings and A Feast for Crows scenarios are the most event driven however they are not totally linear by any means.
The second you hit play you can change the story completely.

Well the Bleeding Years bookmark gives you the possibility to totally change the story by NOT uniting the Seven Kingdoms and instead conquering a New Valyria in Essos. And makes metric tonnes of cold hard cash from all those vassal Free Cities. And convert to R'hllor and keep the dragons alive. Hmm, why didn't Aegon see that was clearly the best option?
