What's the point of creating a hegemony nowadays?

It's quite elementary, hegemony existing so that you can have a fed type that give you fed fleet at the start and ensuring you remaining president for all eternity.

No other federation can give you this, eventually they would get to the point sure but at the start? Only hegemony can give you this.

I think No-Vassal Hegemony Federations would be a lot more interesting were it not for the Federation Fleet limit. Having the other members build fleets for you while they otherwise retain their independence is a really interesting playstyle in concept, but it just doesn't scale into the late game like vassals do.

Hegemonies should be reworked to work with vassals in some way. Vassals in general could use a balance pass after they butchered loyalty and removed the vision of the benevolent galaxy unifier the overlord dlc promised.

In version 4.0, the establishment of a federation no longer requires diplomatic tradition. It is hoped that at that time, the overlord can form a federation with its vassal states, just like the sphere of influence in Vic3.
