My favorite clan is an absolute dog in this game... the Oda Clan simply because of Nobunaga. He's the first great unifier and simply a brilliant leader. Watch the "The King of Zipangu," good movie.
I like Shimazu's due to their position: nice far south, good expansion opportunities and, once you get strong, someone on other end of Japan has already become a worthy challenge.
