I was trying to get achievements, but I can't earn any. I am running CK2 on a Windows PC, with an i-7 processor I believe, if that makes a difference. Any ideas? Thanks.

You are running the game using the PLAY button in Steam, right? Not from a desktop shortcut or ck2game.exe directly?
Actually, I am running it from a desktop shoetxut. Would that make a difference? Also, what if I right click in steam, then select ck2. Will that disable achievements?

Did you make that shortcut yourself ?
If its the shortcut made by Steam on installation of CK2, then Steam should get started as well.
If it's not a shortcut that starts Steam as well, but a manually made shortcut, then you don't start and play CK2 through Steam and thus can't get achievments.
If you start the game directly through the Steam program in its "Library", then you should get achievements.

I think I fixed the problem. I also started to run more, but it said that was the only thing preventing it from getting achievements. Also, can I run ck2+ on steam ck2? It's not on the workshop, and I don't have that might technical experience, so I wouldn't know how to reroute the file without someone telling me exactly where to put it.
Yes, you can use any mod no matter if it got released on the Workshop or not.
Read the opening post in the mod download thread and to make it easy, get the installer instead of the zip file.
With the installer you can ignore the Installation Instructions on the opening post.
Current version only works on patch 2.8.1.

Read the opening page and the smalll print below the download links, but yes, simply use the installer after unzipping/unpacking the downloaded file.
I'm currently having the same issue. I'm running the game through steam and it is online. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game but the problem still persists, any further steps I can take to solve it?
I've double checked and it's currently enabled. Can a poor network connection from Steam cause this problem? I seem to be running into some problems with it.
Can you clarify what you are saying here please? Run more what? What action or change appeared to fix the problem for you please?
I don't remember exactly how I did it, but I believe for steam it is somewhere in settings you can turn on steam cloud sync. For ck2, I believe you open steam, right click on ck2 in your steam library, select properties, and somewhere in there turn on steam cloud sync. I'm not home right now, so I can't verify that, but that's what I think I did. Also, make sure that you aren't opening ck2 from a shortcut that you made. Hope this helps.
Turn ON Steam cloud sync? That's interesting, because that should be on by default for Steam overall and for this game. With that off in either place you could not do cloud saves, for instance.

It was on for me, my problem was I created a shortcut that turned steam off for some reason. But my friend had it turned off for some reason when he started.
I just ran into this problem as well. Achievements were working fine for me, but I decided to get the last DLCs I was missing and restart. So I deleted all my saves, grabbed the DLC (Reaper's Due, Horse Lords, and Jade Dragon, if it matters), installed them, and come back to the play screen, where it's suddenly telling me I can't get achievements because Steam isn't active. I always start the game from inside Steam proper, cloud synch is enabled, and I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, to no effect. Any advice?
EDIT: As of midnight, central daylight time, it's working again. Looks like it was a Steam-side problem.

Yeah i'm having the exact same problem today too, always start CK2 from within Steam and also checked that the cloud settings were all good (never had this problem before). Also verified cache but that wasn't the problem. I'm thinking it might be a problem on Steam's end? Otherwise i can't think of a reason as to why it isn't working considering I've done nothing different from what i normally do.
Yeah i can't get achievements either without any mods, correct checksum, started from inside the Steam Library, etc.
Pretty sure a problem on the Steam side, i'd think.
