This would be a disappointment, if it were true. I don't get the point in announcing games only to hatch them for over a year. I've certainly lost all interest in HoI4 after it got postponed again and again.

I will see what others think of HOI4 upon release, but tbh, i'm starting to feel that WW2 has been done to death, and we need something new and fresh, like Stellaris.

Well, WW2 is done do death on minor western front; eastern front is different matter. Not to mention strategy games about WW2 in Yugoslavia, resistance in Poland, Winter Ear in Finland, warfare in Burma/Philippines/Indonesia, and of course Chinese front where 1 million Japanese soldiers (and much more Chinese) died.

And then is barren area of eastern front in WW1, balkan front in WW1,ottoman front in WW1, Balkan War, Spanish Civil War, Vietnam-Khmer war, Korean War, Algerian War, Israeli wars, Iran-Iraq war, Afghanistan, Kongolese Civil War, Russian Civil War, Pakistani-Indian wars and few others :D

Not to mention there was still no good WW2 racing game!

Don't get me wrong I think Stellaris is gonna be a great game, but you cant argue that ww2 has been done to death when the sci-fi/future genre has been even more done to death.

I don't agree with that, as future is potentially infinitely rich in more or less realistic fictional settings, while ww2 was 6 year long historical conflict. One setting has much more to offer here

Not really, they're mostly pretty similar (although at least Stellaris looks fairly different). I mean seriously, have you seen all the futuristic games released recently? WW2 hasn't actually been done much in video games in comparison.

That's not quite what I meant. I meant not many GOOD WW2 games RECENTLY. For example at the moment it just feels like every single FPS recently released are just Halo clones, and there's also been an influx of space strategy games recently (I.e Beyond Earth). Of course I'm not trying to argue there hasn't been a lot of WW2 games, I'm trying to say there's been dozens of "future" games recently. I'm still excited for Stellaris since it looks like with all the scenarios possible in game it will be quite interesting.
