You've played this game longer than I've probably played any game ever, at the very least over a similar time-span. Even CK2 and HOI2/3, Civ II and Doom 1/2, all of which I loved the hell out of (and had time to play back when I was a student), and yet you're complaining about it?

I'm just going to point out that to have played this much, since the game launched in June last year, you would have had to have played ~30 hours a week. That's not a game. That's a job.

You don't get the point. It's 3-5 hours a day in MP back then, and zero hour a day recently? Do you understand now?

And I don't get your point. You seem to insinuate that anyone who played this game long enough is not entitled to complain about the current state of the game. Like most players, I wasn't too quick to jump to conclusions and complain about the game shortly after its release. I was patient and kept waiting for improvements. I felt that developers needed some time to stabilize the game. But right now? It's been almost nine months and still no major improvements.

If you carefully read my first post, I'm not complaining about the core game. In fact, I called the game "promising". What I complained about, is lack of good updates since the release.

Yes. You played the game massively, and now you no longer play the game. Forgive me if I still can't see the problem here - all of us have played games to death and then stopped playing because they weren't fun any more. It's the fact that we played them heavily in the first place that shows we enjoyed them.

Like I said: I haven't played any of the games I have on Steam, some of which I've had for years, many of which I enjoyed immensely, as long as you played HOI4 over the last ~six months.

And I don't get your point. You seem to insinuate that anyone who played this game long enough is not entitled to complain about the current state of the game.

I'm saying that someone who voluntarily played the game for more than a thousand hours obviously couldn't have disliked the experience. Put it like this: even if you paid top-dollar for this then the cost to you was less than 10 US cents an hour. You got your money's worth.

The equivalent here is someone walking into an all-you-can-eat buffet, stuffing themselves, and then complaining that they didn't like the food: it's unconvincing.

The rest of your comment has already been addressed by other posters here - Paradox are working on fixing/improving various base features of the game before moving on to the next expansion. Plenty of people are still buying the game and playing online.

HoI4 MP is broken:
1. Constant de-syncs.
2. Host can kick any player for anything, ever. I've literally been kicked as Germany by a host UK for completing Sea Lion.
3. Even PARADOX in their Dev MPs have house rules because some of their features (coups) are literally broken.

1. probably caused by one of the peoples networks. I've done extensive testing with people around the world and desyncs are rare when the networks have good connections
2. Play with people you know, quit complaining about MP issues that aren't caused by a game, but because of an individual
3. Yes MP games and SP games have different parameters, and unless you develop the game for MP only, and not for SP you will probably have to have house rules.

Quit using logical fallacies to attempt to flame discussions. Constructive discourse is one thing...

this game for me is a complete flop compared to the previous games its why I haven't played it much compared to any of the others and although I like the way the air force works in this I would like to be able to select a specific type of aircraft to fly in that squadron E.G. having only bf-109s fly over france while fws fly over the soviet union and the areas to fly are a to large and you cant select several and the ai is just absolute rubbish, I took over the planet as the sovs by 1941 and was already bored because no effort was required

I cant get anyone on my steam list to play hoi4 with me. I keep waiting for the game to reach a state where I can honestly tell people that its fixed and not so casual.

Not casual is a perspective, to me not Casual was BICE in HOI3, I bought HOI3 after all of the patches were done and after 2 months I got bored because I felt is was casual while I think a lot of people now would say it's overall complex without mods. I do not think your ever going to get past casual in Vanilla HOI4 because PDX cannot balance more nuances in existing systems without a lot of QA and money (cough.....think we gave them enough of the latter). So for me I can't play a MP game because frankly it's not immersive nor is it complex enough of a base game.

One thing i was surprised not to see is a ledger with more detailed info about your own country, losses inflicted to the enemy...etc
It should be pretty easy to add and would please a lot of people.

Tone aside. Effort aside. Recent improvements aside.

The real frustration with this game is:
  1. Buy game
  2. Play SP. Try out various nations you have an interest in. Done
  3. Try MP. Get abused. Get ridiculed. Get trampled on. Don't understand anything
  4. Don't give up. Play some nation, try to play it well. It's fun. It's much more interesting than SP
  5. Note that you start spending more time in lobby or searching for a good game to start
  6. Start to get frustrated
  7. Find other interests
Everything in MP is back to front. I have to chose the mods I want to play before I find a game that I want to join. Oh wrong mods. Which mods? Decipher mods. Restart game. Try to join. Game already running. Great. Start over.

Finally you find a game. There are rules. There are no rules. There are rules, but nobody follows them. Frustrated.

There is TS or discord. But there is no copy&paste. Great. Type/copy cryptic strings. Frustrated.

Game is going well. Host dies. Or router dies. Some defect kills the game. How to rejoin. Can't see it in the list. Ah. No hotjoin. Find other interests.

I can't believe that this is going on for so long and yet Paradox totally ignores it. It is irrelevant to them. Why? You don't play the game yourself? It's a job right?

As I have written in the suggestions to Paradox some weeks ago, a proper MP:
  1. Start an MP game browser
  2. Select nations you would like to play, new game or join a running game
  3. Match a host which would accept you, taking into account your preferences and your experience. Just query the bloody steam data. You need 300h to play major. Fine I have it. Stop asking me if I do or don't. Steam knows.
  4. NOW start the game. Right MODs, directly to host
  5. There are rules for Division designer, justify wars, coups, boosts, historical/ahistorical. Good. Enforce them. You love spouting that the game is MODable. Prove it.
We can probably collate all the rules out there in point 4 and you can develop it.

There is a tonne of interesting MODs to play in MP, but I know I will never really play them, because it isn't possible to get a game going with enough quantity of the right type of players....so what is the point in investing more effort into making the game more MODable?

As I said in my other thread, Opensource it. Let the community fix this shit, and stop holding the community down. You obviously can't/won't do it since the MP system hasn't evolved since EUII/III or ???
