In what folder are they located, exactly? My game is installed to Program Files/Paradox Entertainment/Crusader Kings, but I can't find any folder resembling what would be save files.

My guess is that you are using Vista?? .. and installed the game in Program files folder??

Since it is not allowed to save things in that folder by Vista, they have been moved to your Application Data folder. I believe there should be a link in your windows explorer window to the location of the files.

Edit: It is never a good idea to install games and such in your Program Files folder on Vista and Win7 if you use the built-in security system of those operating systems. You might even get some problems with adding mods. So I would recommend that once you find the location of your save game files, that you do the following:

- copy your entire CK folder somewhere else (f.x. C:\games\CK)
- then go and copy your save game files to \scenarios\saved games\ folder under your CK folder

Thanks, I found them after hunting in Temp files for a while, and transferred the whole business to my external hard drive. I didn't realise the save games took up so much space, all mine together were over 3.6 GB!

Yep, the further into a game you go, the larger those files get. I typically only keep the last few saves of each game and delete the rest. It saves tons of time when I do my virus/Adware checking (and I can usually tell the difference if I forget to delete them - lol).

Edit: Forgot to mention another habit I get into. I Create a short-cut to my desktop for the Saved Games folder. Makes it easier if/when I need to do that clean-up or work on a saved game.
