OK people, let's all be realistic.

Most of you here have tried at least 1 or 2 multiplayer games, right?

How many of you got past 1492? Probably very few.

Why? Because multiplayer SUCKS.

Solution?

EU 1.10 is supposed to fix a lot of the bugs and glitches in the multiplayer feature.

So let's all be realistic. No one will be able to play or finish ANY multiplayer games until this patch 1.10 is released.

If you want to start a multiplayer game now, feel free. But you will be in hell, and you will be cursing and frustrated when you keep crashing and crashing and crashing.

so Paradox.....please please please hurry up and get that update 1.10 working and released already!! pretty please!

if you delay any further, I will be forced to send the Danish tyrant King Christian III to beseige the Paradox office at Stockholm! :D

It was NOT King Christian III that made the Stockholm bloodbath, it was King Christian II as mrmister already said.

And btw, GIVE US THE FRIGGIN PACTH!

Any estimate on when it will be out of beta testing?

It was posted earlier by a moderator that it would be out in early september. Well, its now later september =(

The multiplayer aspect of the game is really quite abysmal....it has also been over 4 months since the last patch...I am starting to get a bit impatient.

I would like to note that I was a tech support mgr at a software company...heliospos.com and understand fully the patch support/testing process. I also believe that 4 months is a bit much =/

Any info would be appreciated.

Reiryc:

Paradox is only a small company. There are literally only a handfull of employees and one of those makes the tea.

They have been concentrating their effort into EU2 (Makes sense because that will make the money) and development of the patch has suffered.

It is in hand. It is out of testing and is now making the rounds of the Publishers getting their copy protection routines added. Paradox are waiting for it to come back when it will be released.

No date can be given as it depends on outside companies/post etc.
Believe me, Paradox want this out of the way as soon as possible.

Now that I have cable modem... I want that patch! I want that patch! I want that patch! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

*stamps his feet on the floor like a brat*

I think the main problem is that many of the Paradox employees is or have been sick in the last 2 weeks =(.

Eg Patric is home with pneumonia right now and Johan was home a few days too this week.
Patric still managed to drag himself to work to clear out the NIMDA virus infection on Paradoxs systems the other day and Johan was sitting at the office coding with a terrible headache when he should probably have been home in bed.

As UD said it's a small team and losing 3-4 persons even for a few days has probably put them behind schedual quite a lot.

I'm shure however that once they get back on track they will see to that the 1.10 patch is released.

I desperately want the patch too, however given the overwhelming circumstances (thank you uglyduck and huzsics) we just have to wait, i look forward to online games with you all soon enough:)

It's not THAT horrible in multiplayer if you only play in games with one or two people. My major problem is that you can't move men off a seige, or else it will crash, and it only happens to people who aren't the host. Additionally I hate that there is no green status bar thingie when your men are moving when you're not the host.

Patch 1.10

I asked Johan/Patric when the patch would be out, and they said it was actually already finished. The problem is that it needs copyprotection, and that sort of thing , AFAIK, isn't up to Paradox.
So, either we just wait some more or we find the ones responsible for the copyprots and threaten to do some nasty things to them unless they start working!

GRrrR, we want 1.10!

I bet it won't live up to all its hype.

Agreed. Experience teaches me that this patch will improve MP game play only slightly, if at all.
Maybe we will be able to keep games going until 1493 instead of February 1492 with the new patch ? :)

But I would be more than happy to be showed that I am wrong ...

Well, I can't comment on what is hype or no.

What I do know is that I am able to play EU2 MP games already relativly stable (6-8 players no less).
That means that the real showstoppers that made it basicly impossible (without intricate tecniques to bypass bugs) for me to play an EU1 MP game with eg 1.09 are gone.
That also means that these have been fixed in 1.10 (since they share the same fixes).

Currently we are also working a lot with the MP part of EU2 to make shure to exterminate all quirks that are still present. Today eg I and Johan was still at it testing MP until 23.15 (then Johan really had to quite for the day and go home to sleap... =).

All the stuff that was fixed eg TODAY, that is also relevant for EU1, will however naturally NOT be in 1.10.
However there is nothing preventing a 1.11 patch with the fixes that has been tracked down in EU2 to emerge sometime in the future.

As for the future I'm determined to make sure that EU2 is basicly as stable and quirke free as EU2 SP will be.
The simple reason is the I WANT TO PLAY EU2 MP TOO!!! =)

Luckily much of the developer time spent on EU2 MP will be able to trickle back to EU1 since it is built on the same engine.

In short, patch 1.10 will be a considerable improvement for the people that just as me simply couldn't play with 1.09 at all.
There is however still bugs in 1.10 and it is still advisable to eg ALL players to restart EU after someone has crashed before reloading a save game (the game gets notoriously unstable otherwise).
For some 1.10 will be godsend, for others there will hardly be any difference between 1.10 & 1.09.

Hi everyone, please forgive us for taking so long with the 1.10 patch, these are busy times indeed. However good news is that we are going through some final tests of it now and hopefully can get it to you very soon. Thank you again for your patience.:)
