eUIv atnthe moment I would imagine owing to how Ck2 has been broken by the deva, ai cannot declare war.

I was wondering because when look at the AAR forums then EU IV has far less entries than CK II or Victoria II so I was wondering if EU IV also has far less players than CK II.

Currently, it makes sense that EUIV has more people playing since it's newer. But comparing peak popularity, CK2 was more popular. It is the game that greatly expanded Paradox's audience, their big hit. That is probably because it is more accesible than an EU game, grand strategy games seem to naturally become more complex on more recent time frames.

Game of Thrones I think infinitely boosted CK2 popularity, not just the mod, but the gof franchise. Ck2, even set in europe is essentially the game of the series!

Well, the AAR forum has more AAR:s for CK2, as it is generally considered to be the "AAR-generator".

You have only got to see the amount of mods to see how CK2 is compared to EU4, as well as the interest in the forums. before CK2 the EU series was in a different league to CK popularity wise, but the success of CK2 has taken everyone by surprise, the developers included I expect, & has become the poster boy rather than EU.

You mean because its easier to role-play CKII than EU IV? Could very well be the reason but when why does HoI and Vicky have so many more AARs than EU IV, too? I doubt that Vicky or HoI are more suited for AARs than EU IV.

But there is a lot of interest in EU IV on the forums or am I seeing this wrong? CK II has only around 200 items in the Steam Workshop whereas EU IV has over 1200.

id say Victoria 2 and HOI3 have a very loyal fan base, like the carnage group which generate some of the best AAR's in the HOI3 subforum, i cant wait to see one of their AAR's once HOI4 is released. id also say that EU4 AAR are more difficult due to the length of the time line personally i think i would struggle to keep things interesting.

People are seriously trying to know which is more popular by looking at AARs quantity? Who really cares about those?

EUIII has more AARs than CK2, so I must assume EUIII is the game with more players after HoI3. What does that really tells me? Nothing but AARs increase as time pass.

Yes for CK2. For the others, they are simply a lot older games only time can tell for EU4.

A bad sample. I know that a lot of mods for CK2 are against using the workshop (WtWSMS that I aid with won't upload it there), and the Workshop mods for EU4 are mostly crap/small GFX (if you ignore what we already have on the forums).

EUIV appears more popular. You can check http://steamcharts.com/cmp/203770,236850#All and see that EUIV beats CK2 consistently. Even in the early day of CK2, the daily Steam usage was lower than EUIV after its release. Of course that may have something to do with Crusader Kings being sold on Gamersgate and lacking achievements early on.

Wait, what? The AI can't declare war in CK2?

Yeah, the DEVs broke the levy system a month ago and show no interest in rushing to fix the problem so after the first 100 years that is it, peace in our time.

Well, that is abit exagerated, they have promised to make a patch to fix it ASAP.

Yeah, a month after release and nothing... they are really rushing to do their jobs
