So on Tuesday this week I made the mistake of spending an hour downloading and extracting and running the 3025 mod--just in time for 1.81 to be released and mess with everything. I was checking to see if anyone could compile a list of which mods (especially the big, universe changing ones) are currently working. Or better yet, is this list compiled somewhere already and I could just check it out? I can't keep downloading and being disappointed as I don't have enough hair to pull out. Thank you all!!

FWIW, it's generally a safe assumption that minor version updates won't break mods... so going from 1.8.0 to 1.8.1 isn't a problem, but if the mod was last known to work with 1.7.x, going to 1.8.x could be problematic.

Since HBS worked on improving the official mod support, I know one of my personal mods that didn't work with 1.8.0 actually started working with 1.8.1 (with the built-in loader, that is... ModTek worked fine either way).

That's what I'm experimenting with because of the patch notes saying:

Mod Support
  • Fixed an issue where asset bundles were failing to load
  • Fixed an issue with the Mod loader merging .csv files
  • The overlay for save states made with mods is now present when mods are disabled or deleted
  • Fixed an issue with loading external assets
  • Fixed load ordering for DynamicEnum data
  • Mods that fail to load now show up in the mod list screen
  • Removed mods no longer show up as loaded on the mod list screen
  • Mod dependencies are now multilayer aware
  • Mod loader logging is now on by default
I'm hoping some or all of my own mods are working again with the built in loader also.

Oh, speaking of which... the mod I have that attempts to adjust speeds is still definitely not working for DLC mechs unless I use ModTek.

Just about all of them work, BUT apparently you still need modtek. Currently version is 2.7.4 (?)

I'm running Hyades Rim (which gets updated right now every couple of days or so.. Hobbes is one busy modder.. keeps coming up with new things.. *grin*

I run a variety of sub mods some taken from other mod packs. where those mod packs have updated working versions incorporated into the mods that are not yet available on Nexus mods or elsewhere. The only mod I keep in the HBS Mods folder is the test mod they put in. ALl my mods are in the same locations as was previously done, but you still need to hit the mods button in game to select the mods.

HBS needs to work on it some more as apparently there are some ...... issues.... yet before we have full client side mod support. At this point getting mods to run now requires extra steps to get them to work. mostly involving selecting mods, restarting the game check to see if your mods are still selected, then playing...

I thought the idea of mod support was to reduce the number of hoops you have to jump through not add to them! I must be obviously sick in the head to even have assumed such a thing.. *gasp*

I was kind of hoping this 1.8.1 patch would sort that out but doesn't seem to have the fix it list yet.

(one of the mods that I had to grab from another mods was Pilot Quirks. The current version on Nexus as of yesterday doesn't work but the version included in Battletech Extended 3025 does, so I snagged it!)

So yes, BT commanders edition is working great. Thanks all for the help with this. I do have another question though...There are almost no mods working on NexusMods for Batltetech. This makes me sad. Does anyone know the status of any of the other stand alone mods?
