Why Did I Ever Upgrade To 1.04!!??

Currently in war with Polen as Sweden. It's in the late 1500s and everything is going juuuuust fine. This would have been a perfect victory in any other version, even 1.00. But ooooooh no. I thought upgrades were ment to prevent crashbugs but this thing has crashed about once a year for about 5 years now, it's f*cking impossible to play this sh*t anymore!!

Odd, I've had 1 in game crash in just under 700 years of gameplay under 1.04. I had many more problems under 1.03, actually.

You did do a fresh install and then apply the 1.04 patch, right?

I upgraded from 1.03 to 1.04 but I've had say one or 2 crashes since the patch came out. Until now. Just tried again and it keeps crashing about once/minute and this happens only in my game as sweden, not in any other games. I would love to see a solution of some sort on this one because I really don't like the thought of starting over...

A clean install might help. Use the patch to go directly from version 1.00 to 1.04.

A clean install will help, quite a lot in fact. Just put your savegame somewhere safe, uninstall, reinstall, repatch and then put your save game back in the proper directory. It'll probably be much more stable. (I had similar problems with 1.02-> 1.03 and this solved them).

It's definetly something wrong with the savegame-file. It keeps crashing within 15 days from when I load it and it doesn't matter what I do in-game, it ALWAYS crashes anyway. So now I'm stuck with a savegame in the late 1500s which isn't playable.
Does anyone know what I'm suppose to do to fix this??

I'm going to try and install the 1.03 instead and then run the same savegame in that version. And if it works I'll just reinstall later.

That thing about reinstalling EU2 and than upgrading it from 1.00 to 1.04 didn't work btw.

I think the crash you are experiencing has been fixed (in the 1500s). I'll check it anyway, if it crashes, I'll send it to Johan.

I've had a couple of crashes in the GC, but not nearly so many as the Age of Revolution scenerio (i think). If you're lucky, that'll crash once ever three or four years. Pretty fustrating when I'm trying to regain the Colonies
