I've noticed that the pop groups on planets for some species appear to be the exact same, visually. At the same time, other species portraits are allowed to have variety between the various groups.
For example, here we have human portraits. Where every single group is represented by the same default human. Same gender, face, hairstyle, and clothing. Both in the Management Screen and the Economy screen. (they don't even change when I try to set my species to all-female. So if you're using these portraits and, for whatever reason, want an all-female species 100% of your pops will still appear to be male. Only leaders will be influenced by your choice)
Meanwhile, here's an example of a species that actually gets some diversity. But even these are flawed. While they have different skin colours and even different ascension levels (I'm guessing the ascension levels are related to their stratum, which is pretty cool) they are still represented only by a single gender (this time female), and all pops wear the exact same outfit. Regardless of job in the economy tab and stratum in the management tab. (This time, though, it *is* possible to change the displayed gender by setting the species to all-male)
I have found varied results when testing other species portraits. But I mostly want to express that I really think that more diversity in how these pops are displayed would be better. Having every single pop group look completely identical results in a very dull screen to look at. And while it could be argued that it's strange for a whole group of people to be defined by a single specific appearance, clearly it was considered worth implementing for some species, so why not others? And this was already true for the pops in 3.14. They always represented a larger group of people. But it's just nicer to have more visual variety with the pops you're looking at.
Besides that, different clothes corresponding to job/stratum would also help differentiate them. So I implore Paradox to consider adding the old visual diversity that pops used to have.
