What vignette effect are you referring to ?
As described above, the one which makes the all edges and corners of the screen darker than the middle of the screen.
I know that it is part of the "vintage movie look" which the designers are going for, which might be OK during the cut-scenes etc, but during actual gameplay we want to see the whole screen in equal brightness without it going dark at at edges and corners.
Players might start thinking they have an eye condition such as tunnel vision, glaucoma or Retinitis pigmentosa.
It is very unpleasant.

Use sweetFX/ReShade, it will cost some performance, make the interface somewhat blurry and kill the Steam overlay (for some reason?!) but it is definitely worth it. The game looks >much< better if you counteract the sharpening filter

I would like a ON/OFF for the vignette effect.
I do not need my screen covered or my screen size reduced for no reason.
It is a not 1rst person simulation, please.

Could you share some pics? I'm curious what your game looks like.

Hey, I did take some screenshots but didnt upload them before, because you wont notice too much difference in a still image and because Im not using max graphics settings, so in the end the screenshots wont convey the actual benefits you get from using ReShade.

I can only stress, that the game looks much better in my opinion if you do some minor tweaks, in order to get the old wargame look.

Anyway, here are some screenshots, but I recommend that you try it out yourself and find settings that you like:

To counteract the sharpening I mainly use FXAA. It will make the whole image (including the UI) a bit more blurry. That is something I personally never cared for. The image quality gain is much more important to me.

I also changed the games colours a little bit as you can see via Tonemap, Levels, and LiftGammaGain.

Edit: I also play on a TV screen, which I am sitting right in front of, so I will probably use different values than anyone with a regular sized computer screen would.

I see, thanks for the picture, i'll give this a try. however judging from my previous exprience on other games with the same sharpening filter, FXAA doesnt entirely counteract the sharpening, there is still a lot of it. I don't understand why the devs dont just add this option in the settings...
