I downloaded CORE yesterday, installed it,started a new game as Germany. The mod is excellent, but one thing I don't like is that colors of some countries and terrain types are changed.I am a bit curious to know why are the colors changed?
Also,is it possible to get the colors as in the vanilla without an negative effects, and how?

I seem to recall that, in my previous CORE game, the hills were darker brown in colour. This made it much easier to distinguish it from the rest of the map. Standard HOI2 just has very light brown as a colour for hilly terrain which is confusing, given the all-white background of the plains. All in all, I reckon CORE is an improvement. Just hope that they get the AI at the same level as DAIM(or better) so that I can play it repeatedly instead of using the original game.

You can replace the file "colorscales.csv" located in the "map" folder with the original without any problems, as far as I can tell.

The only negative effect is that it is harder to see British territory bordering some of their puppet states (like in Egypt and Iraq) because the pink and red shades are rather close.

Apart from that, I much prefer the original colors too. I find the extra dark and extra bright colors in CORE2 a bit too garish and distracting. But I suppose it's a matter of personal taste.

Well they weren't in real life as well, really. But Egypt is being tweaked as of now to force better results.

Egypt was more or less independent after 1922 - though I guess it depends what you think makes a "puppet" regime ! Britain retained considerable control over most aspects of what (in game) are probably important things - the Army, Foreign Policy, even internal security, to a large extent. Anyhow, right now, it isn't a puppet, for game purposes.

IMO, Egyptshouldn't really be neutral, regardless of whether it's a puppet or not.
They declared war on the Axis as early as 1945.

Not quite an English puppet IMHO, as a puppet would have done so in 1939. :p

I didn't suggest they were a total puppet, as they had a king(Farouk?) etc. However, it seems logical to assume that once the Axis reached(and won) El-Alamein, that Egypt would have become forcibly involved in the war, in some way. Either the Axis would have succeeded in inciting Arab revolts across the Middle-East and replaced the Egyptian government with one of their own, or Egypt would have been forced into the Allied camp in order to get rid of the Germans.

Which reminds me, Brazil entered the war in either 1942 or 1945, I can't remember which. It should definitely be made easier for it to become part of the Allied camp as the war drags on. It never joins the Allies in my games.

Also,I do think that certain other possibilities should be implemented. Franco, for example, sent many Spanish volunteers to fight the Russians on the Eastern front, even though he remained neutral, overall. Also, occupation of certain provinces or countries should make certain nations more likely to ally with certain sides. For example, paradropping and occupying Gibraltar should make it easier for Germany to ally with Nationalist Spain, while Russian conquest/puppetisation of a neighbouring country such as Greece or Bulgaria should make it much easier for Turkey to ally with the USA etc.

We've added a rudementary event chain to 0.30 to do precisely that... ;)
