So I went through the age of Ether and originally I was conserned about making enough power for my civilization to grow since I didn't have any mountains, so I picked up the tech to reveal oil.

but after doing so, there is no oil, I heard oil spawns on deserts and deep ocean, I can't see the deep ocean as I am playing a very land heavy map but all the deserts are barren of oil, this is the desert outside my capital

this is the desert near Russia

and this is the Sahara

I have explored almost the entirety of the map, and it is completely devoid of oil, am I doing something wrong? Is this a bug with the age of Aether? does this map only spawn in the ocean at the center or the ice around the edges? Were there just no dinosaurs in this timeline? If anyone can help explain please do.

It is also a bit annoying to have picked up a completely useless tech and then learn that I likely will have to come back and get exotic metallurgy because I can't make computers without it.

I had a map which only had one source of oil in the entire world. Luckily it was just south of my border, and some brief unjustified aggression later, it became mine.

This happened in the Age of Alchemy -> Age of Revolution progression so I don't think its specific to the Age of Aether

how do you handle having just 1 oil.
