Hello guys,

I play mostly CKII and will play EUIV, I'm relatively recent to paradox and I was wondering if I should buy this game. I really like Japan, especially this period, I've heard it's similar to CKII so that's a plus and it's on sale. The thing is, I'm not sure if P'Dox will continue to develop this game. But, is that such a bad thing? Does this game need work? Even without possible updates, is it still worth it? Would you buy it if you were in my shoes?

Thank you, in advance, for helping me decide guys.

I think Paradox is done with this one...I was thinking of getting it too, if I get it before you I'll give you my impressions. I didn't really think much about Japanese history until I started playing a copy of Shogun 2 I'd bought a while back...Completely changed my perspective. i think I'll buy it for sure if it goes to 75% off

Most of the people that check out this forum will probably tell you it's worth the money. And I'm one of them. Especially with the current Paradox sale on Steam and the summer sale coming up on Steam as well.

I haven't put as many hours into Sengoku as I have with CKII, HOI3, Vicky 2, and others, but I've certainly played it enough to feel like it's worth it. The main reason for the relative lack of playtime is that there doesn't seem to be as much to do in Sengoku, but you'll still get an awesome feeling when you pull off a plot against a large, powerful neighbour and bring them to their knees, or even the first time you conquer a neighbour of any size.

Also, you can check out the Monumenta Iaponiae Historica mod by chatnoir17 for some added flavour and gameplay components. It adds quite a lot and is still being worked on.

Thank you Sigmarsson, I do believe I'll buy it. And I'll certainly hope for some Expansions and/or DLC

Yeah, MIH adds a lot more detail and flavour (and new scenarios!) to the game. Ultimately though Sengoku is a "paint the map with your colour" wargame, and while not very deep or complicated, it's a solid one. I think one of the less appreciated aspects of Sengoku is that because it is simple, the AI is also able to give you a good challenge without having to cheat. Sengoku is one of the games where I can't be sure beforehand that I'm going to win a campaign when I start one.

Bought it! I'm still hoping for some more love for this game. I'm gonna play it vanilla for a while to get the hang of it then I'll download MIH and give it a try. Thanks guys!

I just bought this game today and after a few hours, I enjoyed the game. It does have its flaws, but with the Steam sale and the amount of mods, it has replay potential

Welcome! As one of the devs for Sengoku I'm glad to see that it still attracts some new players :)

Thanks! This game really does attract new players, my dear Captain Gars! So much so, that I believe an expansion would be a great business idea! *cue Hypno-toad*

But are you still working on it or what are you working on now?

No, I'm busy slaving away on EU4 :) But Sengoku is a project close to my heart as it was the first full game I worked on and a project where I was able to do some design work (Ikko-ikki rebels, the introduction and spread of arquebuses, the end-game mechanics and a few other things).

Just bought it. You should do some unofficial patches for the game ;)

Unfortunately, I'm not a programmer :) Thanks for buying the game. Hope you enjoy it!

I really hope we will see at least a patch for Sengoku ... it's such a great game, but some things are really annoying.

* "I want a ..." - Spam
* Too less plot-activity (seldom another clan accepts to join a plot)
* Multiplayer is just not working

Anyway, SENGOKU is so much fun ... a great work!
