This is really annoying, the game is ok but can we do something about this? There is no time to set up your fleet for battle and if you enter a battle with a smaller ship, you are finished. I'd like Paradox to patch this. You really need time to organize your fleet and if you have a smaller ship at least you can run without getting the crap kicked out of you in the first 5 seconds....

Battles start relatively close up as otherwise there would be time wasted on approach, but now, as the tactical level speed multiplier is coming along, it might be feasible to take the opposing fleets a bit farther away from each other. We'll look into this one.

Oh yeah game is soooo great but this is reallly annoying ;x you just don't have time to manoveur your fleet to run away if you are fighting as weaker side we should have a little time to decide to run or fight to the death. So please do something in this way game is really great (don't care about the ppls which are saying "Lol at this game" or "really dissapointed") we just need a little fixes ;)

yes i also would like to start the battles at greater distance..also to have time to get into formations. and btw i liked the speed of battles!

It was really strange too, that the approach angle from strategic view didn't seem to affect the starting positions in tactical view. If I barely catched them from behind, I sometimes started right next to them, while meeting them head on started me from a very distant position where the wind wouldn't allow me to do much anyway.

Thank you Kim for your reply. I'm in my mid 30's and have played most of the Naval games on the market. I've been waiting for this game since it was first announced and I must say it has HUGE potential! I just love the ship models and the look of the graphics. There a few simple things that would really make this game, if you care to listen and pass them on. All I would ask for would be the opportunity to start farther away from the opposing fleet as strategy in battle really would affect the outcome and give you a chance to fight or flee, isn't this the whole idea behind a faster ship? Pirates of the Caribbean did this very well. What would give the game huge longevity would be a simple mission editor! It would give multiplayer a huge boost and would give single player battles the ability to become really interesting. All you would need for the editor would be the ability to select: country, ships, weather conditions, time of day, ship placement and direction, and of course "Large Maps" that would have a variety of coastline and open sea terrain, I would pay extra for this editor as it would open a whole new dimension to this game and really bring it close to its true potential.

Thanx for listening!

Oh.. Wasted time in the approach would be more than worth it!
