Fairly new to the game, but love it.

Question. I started a game as Russia, and enjoyed the low cost of infantry. Thought it would be fun to try Sweden, a vassal in need of independence, so modified my eug file... then found infantry 4x more expensive.

Played with a few different nations. Troop costs vary.

Is there a good reason for this?

Please... educate me. :)

Thanks.

Russia and Turkey have lowest troop costs: it reflects that they never had any problems with manpower.
England on the other hands has lower prices for their ships etc etc.
It adds a bit variety to the game...

If all countries were the same to play it would get boring real fast. Variety adds a lot to the replay value.

...and it's weakness. Pol-Lith infantry costs more then cavalry for example :)

10d infantry, 12d cavalry (beginning of the game, hardest setting)
sure, Turkey and Russia gets cheaper body-climbers :)

Reminds me of a nickname the US Navy uses for the US Marine Corps: "bullet stoppers."
