Why wont they give me what I want??

Currently I am playing Russia, and I attacked Pol-Lith union. WE have captured 9+ provinces including the capital. They have no army to speak of. I want wielke, belograd and smolensk.(forgive spellings) They keep offering Wielke, Smolensk and Mysor. Mysor is a better province than Belograd in terms of population and trade value. I want belograd to shorten my interior lines of communication. The war has dragged on and on, they keep offering, and I keep counter-offering.

What do I need to do to make them bend to my will. What makes them want belograd so much....it is not a good strategic move on their part as they could never defend it.

Do I need to conquer them totally??

Sometimes the AI is stubborn for no apparent reason. However, I find that unless there's some really compelling reason to take a particular province, it's better to end the war quick so you can come back for another 3 provinces in 5 years.

The other thing to keep in mind is not to take all the provinces that give you a casus belli against Poland - and I know Belorus is one of them. That makes it easier for you to come back next time!
