You're still changing the subject, Breit. Perhaps it's time you gave up?

Good to see you back on the forum, Grahamule.

I saw 2 replies when I checked this forum 3 hours ago, and suddenly it was up to 21! For a mniute there, I thought this forum had suddenly returned, Phoenix-like, from the ashes. Then I saw that the thread had devoled into an argument between Adam Breit and Morpheus (that was nonetheless interesting to read).

Devolved? At least it was an intelligent argument. ;)

And don't forget that Grahamule made a stellar reappearance. :D

Well; those sliders are much more realistic as the "hardcoded" colonists.

And you can't even convert provs !

Province conversions are both cheaper and more expensive, much simpler but demanding that you horribly opress the faith you want to convert away from - in effect converting provinces is much more realistic in EU1

And the colonists are only softcoded, you can change them at will by editing a file - and that is no more cheating than using sliders, since the AI doesn't get to use sliders...

And, to stick to the subject (remember that boys and gals - Why?
My main reason to play EU1 is to help people that have EU1 questions - but the second reason would be to play a game where Spain and Turkey actually amount to something even if AI-run.

Eu2 may have a lot of new bits added to it but there are a lot more restrictions on game play. Sometimes I load my Eu game and conquer the world just for kicks. That is if the game does not crash.

So in other words *you play EU1 only as a joke and when your board*? :D

Oh, but honestly, it is quite sad to see how morbid this forum is :( .....to think, the entire paradox craze began with this game :(

It got the best sequal ever ...

So its obsolete :)

The existence of a sequel does not make a game obsolete.

EU 1 Is the best, as in it was the most innovative game of paradox; but if EU2 would have been released earlyer; EU2 would be the absolute best.

... Really; EU is the best because it was so "new" but if EU and EU2 would have apeared at the same time, EU2 would beat EU.

EU2 1.08 definitely. Before it was patched it wasn't much better than EU1 though.

You have a point there; but EU itself was not that good unpatched either.

And back in those days I didn't have internet; so I didn't get any patch :(

Yeah I didn't get a patched version for a while because of the same reason. I didn't really experience the bugginess though, perhaps my version was somewhere between 1.00 and 1.10.
