Ever since I ran across a few drunken AARs sometime last year I’ve been wanting to do one myself. Either through lack of time, effort or want, I never found the opportunity. However, I have cleared away some time beginning this Saturday at 1500 GMT (I think) / 0900 EST. That ought to cover European and American timezones.

My country of choice is going to be Austria using VIP 3.01 because I’m far too lazy to remove it from my computer for a vanilla game. Also I still have the Egyptian thing going on over there. Austria ought to give me a lot of chances to succeed and screw up, especially when inebriation curls its pretty little head my way. What can I say? I can’t resist her.

I’m going to be updating once every hour; I’ll try capturing a shot of the country if there’s a need for one at the end of each update. I don’t know what I’m going to be drinking yet, it’ll be whatever I feel like picking up on Friday night. And I’m anti-beer; as far as I’m concerned it was only made to keep the bartenders from bothering you. If you want to suggest something, I’ll think about it.

You can consider the AAR ended when I stop posting. No, there are no time limits. I won’t stop at midnight or after a 12 hour gamble. I’ll stop when I begin wondering where I left the keyboard. If I have enough liquor left on Sunday, and if I’m still up to it, I’ll continue the AAR. Although those are big Ifs. IF it resumes, it’ll resume about an hour after I wake up... which could be a while. ;)

I have no goals for Austria. I hope to survive... and I’d like to take the Balkans from the Ottomans. But let’s face it. Once I get enough in me, planning goes out the window.

I don’t have a plan to turn this into a drinking game. Generally when I drink its an all-day (love) affair. I’ll likely start off hard and fast and relax as time goes on but I have a few days left to sort out a plan so I continue drinking until the dark shroud comes to take me away.

If there are no comments after a few updates, I may become disinterested and find something else to do. So if you’re going to be following along Saturday, be sure to drop by and say something. You can even say something before Saturday

MrCrispy109 & The_Shepherd: It ought to be. As for other drunk AARs, there’s coz1's Santa Ana is Drunk, And So Am I: A Drinking AAR which I found while searching for Mexican strategies. In the first post he gives two other drunken writers, and if you search the EU2 forums for those writers, you’ll likely find more. I also know there was one in EU3 called, “What Can You Do With A Drunken Tuscan?” but I don’t think it had ever begun. And it was a while ago, probably with 1.3. These kinds of AARs can be tough to find.

I’m also posting here to conform the day and time that this AAR will begin. I’ll likely post again in about 36 hours to list what’s going to be sitting on my desk through Saturday.

Ah booze and Victoria, it-
Wait? That's a horrible mix! Carry on, sir, this can only end well.

I think I still have the save, so I could... but I think I'd have to turn it into a drinking game contrary to what I originally had planned. Maybe I'll make this a continuous drinking AAR whenever I plan to drink for eight hours or more. I'll think about it.
