I find the idea pretty good indeed.
Even if the scenario is not so well playable in a multiplayer way, let's assume that some people will be glad to play it alone anyway.
Regarding the map, I think that it sould not be so difficult, should it ? We just have to look at some *true* historical maps...
In my mind the most difficult part will be the setting of friendly/hostile relations between countries : that's where we may have to discuss the point.
Nevertheless, I would like to emit a suggestion. I've come across some older Atari game recently, which name is Colonial Conquest. The game features 2 possibilities that may interest us :
- the 1st scenario starts in 1880 ; the "colonial" nations have their whole colonies, but there are still some wholes and the alliances are not defined yet (Austria, Italy and Turkey are considered minor). So it may be interesting for our German friend to feature the ascencion of the II Reich, and maybe avoid the Russian/English/French alliance...
- the 2nd one stands nearer from your initiative : a pure 1914 scenario in which all is ready for fight.
So I assume that when all is ready for your scenario, we can easily make some changes in order to create the second one... and then double our pleasure in playing EU !
Whatever your reaction may be to this consideration, I'll follow you in whatever way you'll decide to walk by.
