In my first core game, everybody went to war with egypt in day 1 and then the game crashed... What was that all about? I was playing germany....

Sometimes the AI goes haywire and DOWs all over the place. That's our #1 outstanding issue, but we haven't quite knacked it yet. It is random though, and most of the time it does not happen (and in itself that's part of the problem, as we can't really reproduce it consistently enough). It happened to me only once so far.Depp said:
Just restart and save straight away, and set your autosave to monthly. Should it happen again just reload. Usually things work out fine this way.
played first time too and southern china declared war on Siam, Venezuela wanted to join my alliance etc etc etc - im germany....

solved it - seems like the AI has to reset or something -

AI: Habba! Sut-Sut! WAR!! - ALLIANCE!! - ALIENS!!!
the game: ehhhhh, ok lets try this again AI
AI: huh? not good enough?
The game: ehhh no, not quite AI lets reload okay?
AI: okay *ashamed*
*Reload*
AI: okay siam trades with malaya, deal between UK and Canada...
The game: nice, keep that going!
And they lived until 1953....
