here my approach on playing as Germany in WIF.

1. Combat

- don't go too deep with your lonely Panzer divisions/mot/whatever, unless you are really sure that your enemy lines are already shattered..... you risk being cut off and have to rely on air supply... and eventual death.

- do pincer movements to encircle enemy divisions, you need to left some Arm and Mot to guard your pocket. encirclement isn't that easy now.

- send out your bombers, they make much difference...

- secure air superiority before using your fragile CAS planes. try to have 20 int/ftr to secure the sky.

- when you are not able to advance, don't use your divisions on suicide attacks, this just gives your enemy a chance to counterattack.

- paratroopers... they could help you doing some encirclements.

- use your fleet to do shorebombardments

2. Planning

- i also use 2 runs of factory.

- start a few intercept fighters serials when you researched interceptors. you need a lot of them to secure the sky. Or just get prepared to be crushed by enemy bombers. The AI in this mod is very good at intercepting your bombers too.

- a way to have total air superiority over England is to have about 40 interceptors hanging around there day and night, one month should be able to wipe out 80% of their planes.

- build some mountain divisions, i have about 12 in the start of barbarossa, of course again i do serials to cut the cost.

- build serial of subs... with a enddate which you think you don't need them anymore...

- i don't suggest you to invest in those supersubs, they are more or less a combination of 3 subs.

- put some of your divisions in north norway bordering finland, aiding finland is very useful in distracting soviet divisions.

- i use H arm/SP art with my tanks and Engineer with my mountaineers, artillery with my paratroopers, and usually don't have brigades to inf (or with AA brigade)

- don't be too hurry to finish up pockets unless you are in a hurry.assaulting a surrounded Moscow could let you have crazy losses.

- i don't use the prince of terror minister , i use the +10% foreign manpower one, that way you should have almost no manpower problem.

- so, now you should consider doing some research on hospital techs?

- don't be hesitate to do ahead of time research , your tech teams can afford to do a research 1.1 years before the historical year.

- infantry is your bulk of army... don't neglect them.

Damn it, already released, now I have to restart my game again! :)

Intro Event:
Für dem tausendjährige Reich -> Für das tausendjährige Reich!

Units:
Brandeburg -> Brandenburg
Volksturm -> Volkssturm
Blöcher - Klasse -> Blücher Klasse
...tröger -> ...träger

germany.txt
Nein : Soviets erste !! -> Nein! Zuerst die Sowjets!
Ich bin alle Zeit richtig... -> Ich entscheide immer richtig!
Es lebe dem Kriegsmarine ! -> Es lebe die Kriegsmarine!

As I`ve said, nothing big, just some minor mistakes.
Thanks, i fix this.

If you have Doomsday, what I assume from your post, then WiF will work for you.

For the installation you need a clean install of Hoi2:DD with the latest patch installed (1.3a for DD?), then you make a a copy of the Doomsday folder and rename it in whatever you like.
So your folder should look like this:
C:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Doomsday ....
C:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\WiF\...

Afterwards you install the WiF mod over the copied folder and that`s it.
Start a new game, get used to the changed gameplay and have lots of fun.
I have played Hoi2 vanilla, DD and DDA with several mods but this mod is the most interesting and challenging of all of it.

@henryjai: I`ve started a new game as germany and I`m following all the hints and tipps I´ve received in this thread. So right now I have finished two runs of 10 factories. In parallel I`ve brought my airforce to the allowed maximum size for 1936 and 1937. I`m using the manpower minister as well as the infantry research bonus minister and the industrial research bonus minister.

I do not plan to change much for the campaign against france, norway or the balkans, as they went really well in my last game, but I will stick to your advices for Barbarossa.

@Fernando: I have seen that you have already implemented my suggested fixes in the new patch, thanks a lot for that! Is it okay if I contact you again in the case that I see some mistake or is that the final version?

Contact me, i'll release another version (or just change the link).

I cant seem to copy the Doomsday folder. I right click on the icon on my desktop, I go to copy, but nothing happens. Wish I had read the entire instructions because I am at 75% and have not been able to copy the folder. Am I doing this right?

Nope! The icon on your desktop is just a link to your hoi2.exe file (normally you will find it under C:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Doomsday, depending on the language of your copy of Windows XP).

What you'll have to do is to open an explorer, search for the specified folder and copy it. Afterwards it will be named "Copy of Doomsday". Rename it into WiF. Then install the mod.

By the way, after you have installed the mod, go to your WiF directory, right click on HoI2.exe and choose "Send to" --> "Desktop". This will create another link to your WiF installation.

Well, at least they are pretty powerful compared to the other models of 1946.

Inf '45:
SA: 18
HA: 6

Mot '44:
SA: 16
HA: 5

Mech '45:
SA: 20
HA: 8

Maybe these are the secret elite soldiers disguised as ordinary old men and young boys? :D

Arghhh!!!!
Swastikas!
(Not that I'm personally interested in this topic, but you should follow the forum rules:))

So, Gentlemen, as I`ve said, I started a new WiF game as germany, building two rounds of factories, keeping my airforce at the max. limits as well as my armor force. Poland fell within three weeks. Norway, France and Yugoslavia gave me no trouble at all. My Ftrs and Int Ftrs have secured the sky over france.
My setup for Barbarossa this time was something like 150 infantry divisions, 12 armored, 9 mechanized and 12 motorized. 9 infantry divisions with one HQ are supporting the Finns in the north.
This time I decided to focus on the northern part of the front. Although I have not reached Moscow, the campaign ran much better this time. It is November 1941 now, the front has become quiet but stable. So, do you think that I have a good chance to win against the soviets this time, or was my progress still not good enough?
