First of all thanks for the best mod out there, but when will the new graphics arrive? I thought you said 1 week after the release of the new version.
You are right about Tibet though, these cores will be deleted in WIF2.Well, from 1934 to 1941 Sinkiang was under control of the chinese warlord Sheng Shicai whose regime was heavily reliant on the Soviet Union, similarly to Outer Mongolia. Then from 1941 to 1944 he turned to the GMD for support before being forced out of power by the GMD in 1944. So for this time space it would be perhaps more historical if Sinkiang stayed neutral as a puppet of the Soviet Union until 41 and then as a puppet of China until 44. Furthermore it is a little irritating if Sinkiang is not core of China but Tibet is. Either both of them or neither. But it is certainly no big problem and as it is the final version I don't think changes are needed.![]()
Did you even play to winter? Then you would have seen that these debuffs quickly goes away and you get the upper hand during winter :S
I guess most things have already been written in respective topics here... Kill the dissent, swarm the Germans with infantry, forget about navy and build a deep defensive line.
IMHO, the optimal thing is to have every province between the Ribbentrop-Molotov border garrisoned with at least one INF division, with industiral centers (and provinces with above average infrastructure) being garrisoned by three-division-sized INF corps (with artillery, AT and eng brigades). During Barbarossa use every hour of combat to delay German advance. If you notice that your divisions are in risk of being encircled, use strategic redeployment to move them into a safe zone and relocate to a new defensive position.
In my first successful game as USSR, I organised a stronger defensive line (with lvl 4 land forts) along the Dnepr, with Kiev being the only fortified position on the German side of the river and Smolensk closing the line from the North. I managed to slow the Germans down a bit, so that they made their first attempt to storm this line in mid August, breaking through around late August - early September. Then I simply returned to delaying them, until winter kicked in and I was given some time to reinforce my units. The largest extent of German advance was (IIRC) Leningrad-Novgorod-Tula-Don (the Germans made a bridgehead around Lipietsk, but I was able to contain it)-Rostov (with numerous short-lived bridgeheads in Kuban).
As for motorised and armour units - they are the only ones capable of fighting on equal ground with the Germans, under two conditions. First, use them to attack advancing German flanks, to exploit their 50% penalty. Second, use them in open plains, with plenty of space to retreat in case of enemy breakthrough. It is useful to have one armoured corps in the North, but keep the majority in Ukraine.
Just one question: why germany doesn't take Memel when Lithuania agrees to give it to Germany?
Relax, if you played with Germany, political map would be quite opposite. :rofl:This is how my first campaign ended while playing as the Soviet Union:

I really need to rethink my strategy and especially not underestimate the AI
Thank you very much for clarification. I was always thinking what is with this Memel issue, and why modders ignore persistently to answer this question. It takes - instead of taking the whole province (which would be unrealistic, since Klaipeda region is about 20 km wide), the naval base in Klaipeda is reduced to 0, while Koenigsberg naval base is expanded by Klaipeda's value.
