I am trying to load an save and the game breaks down with this msg...

--- Database Mismatch (type=4712/id813329) already used!---

Same goes for the autosave and the old autosave.

I have played up intill 1946 and would hate to restart. Is there any way to save this game, or is it lost to me?

One or more of your (or an AI) units has somehow been "cloned".

Make a copy of your saved game under another name, as a back-up.

Try opening the saved game in Notepad or (preferably) Notepad++. Search for the ID numbers that cause the mismatch. Find all of the instances of that ID number, not just the first one (ie: use "Find", examine the unit, then use "Find Next").

See if some of them have the "Location" parameter set to zero (ie: off-map). Delete those units... look carefully at the nesting of the { and } characters to be sure that you "surgically remove" the unit from the save, deleting every character of its record WITHOUT damaging the records before and after it.

When your have removed all the "clones" of that unit, leaving only ONE record in the entire save file that has that ID code (ie: the "Find" function only returns one "hit"), save the file and run the game. See if it loads correctly.
